Nice!

I loves me some Spiderco blades. Just took my ceramic to my H1 (The ceramic "steel" is a holdover from culinary school, pretty useful) I'm pretty sure it can split a hair now. I've decided that the only cutlery I will ever buy must be made in Japan.

I just got this delivered to me today....

It is nothing to 'flashy', but the size is perfect. I am going to use it as a money clip (clip on the backside).

Slowly adding to my budget EDC.:D

My farking cell phone holster broke, again

What are people using that actually works, ie doesn't fall off all the time is reasonable durable etc.

I have a gZone exactly like this

i use to have the same phone now i have the "gzone the rock"

my clip alway's broke....got a carabiner and clipped in the slot in the end of the phone to a belt loop...........it works:D

I was going to upgrade to the rock but it wasn't getting very good reviews at the time. How do you think they compare to the Gzone?

I tried the Biner idea for a while but didn't like the phone flopping around.

i keep a go bag @ home and a small 72hr goodies box in my fj60. in my pocket every day is my case xx trapper, a led keychain light, mini bic, and a few silver coins.

update i just bought a streamlight nano badazz and freaking tiny super bright but short battery life

I just keep my phone in a pocket... Looks like crap after awhile, but it works and is cheap.

Got a general question about flashlights. Which would be ideal to carry daily, a AA or AAA flashlight?

I was thinking a AA would be better. If you ever got into a pinch and needed to replace the battery, there are more electronics that use AA rather than AAA. I understand the AAA is smaller and takes up less space, but it doesn't matter if the battery is dead and you don't have access to a replacement.

Again, I am generalizing and maybe I am missing something.

Senoj,

Good question one that I am sure a few more will weigh in on. Here is what I do know, as you stated "most" electronics do use AA and it is because of this I rationalization most of my electronic purchases are based around the AA battery. I use AA energizer batteries and picked up Power Film solar panel awhile ago that allows me to charge AA batteries and shares a USB power port for charging a cell phone. Honestly, though for daily carry I use a small LED disposable tactical key chain light that has proven itself very useful, durable and reliable. In the rig I keep a surefire G2 tactical light that WILL impair night vision, its design is considered "high- drain" and use a 123a Lithium battery that has a 10 year shelf life. I keep several of these in a SF carry in the center Tuffy console. I look forward to what other guys are usings as this is a custom setup that has worked for me for several years. HTH

The first rule of flashlights is 'One is none, two is one' so I almost always carry at least two lights. Right now I have a Fenix LD01 (AAA) on my key chain, a Jetbeam (AA) in my pocket, and a Surefire L4 (CR123a) in my coat pocket. Yes - I have a flashlight addiction.

I think the real answer to your question is you need to be prepared. If you carry one flashlight, the battery(s) will eventually die. If you don't have spare batteries or a spare light on you, you will be in the dark.

I don't carry a flashlight everyday, for my day pack/go bag I carry a AA 2 cell Mini Mag because my camera and GPS also use AA. I keep a little case that holds 6 AA batteries in the same bag.

I agree with you total about the 'One is none, Two is one' philosophy. I was thinking worse case scenario with the battery situation. I have a 2 cell Mag Lite in the car and a little junky led on the key chain. So by adding another AA or AAA I should (hopefully) have my bases covered.

Just wondering what, if any, argument there is to carry a AAA battery flashlight over a AA.

I was trying to get everyone's opinion about it, and I appreciate your input. It is always best to be prepared.

You almost forget your carrying a single cell AAA mini mag in your pocket. I usually have one in my jeans when I go camping, it makes it easier to find my way from the campfire to my tent.

I have one of those ( and give one to her ) with my Land Cruiser keys .. and found it to be very handy

I think it's a personal preference - AAA are just a bit too small for me for EDC other than as a key chain light. I think you'll find more options in AA lights too - brightness, runtime, rechargeables, size, price, etc. I've tried to standardize on AA and 123 battery powered lights but somehow that never seems to work.

If you really had to get a battery, I would think a AA would be easiest to find but AAA seems to be getting more common.

Forgot to mention the other light in the rig:

Petzl E49 P Tactikka Plus. Great head lamp with several different light sequence options and a red flip down filter for night time, uses AAA batteries, durable and lightweight. It seems like the trend here has been preparedness, light for the application(s) and light specific back-up batteries. I agree with TomH as AAA seems to be a more popular battery size as the demand for smaller, lightweight flashlights increases and LEDs allow for longer burn times with less battery drain.

Senoj-

CC is a good company to deal with, and the light you have selected is surprisingly rugged and well designed, including a positive on/off switch. I have several of these, they also make one that includes a clip on the back and the light can be rotated into position for more options.
