I searched to try and find a thread that brought out this question about personal choices for equipment/ gear that you guys carry on you daily. Be as specific or abstract as you wish.

Here is my list:

Special OPs wallet-

Band aids (currently Dora the "overland" Explore variety)
Condom for carrying approx. 1L of water
Phone card
5- $1 coins
Pictures of family

Cell phone
Benchmade 530
Survival bracelet (30'- 550 paracord)

Key Chain-

LED tactical light (green)
Large safety pin
SwissTech 6-in-1 Utili-key

This has been, and will continue to be, an evolving list as needs change or research produces something more adequate. For example, I would like to include the ability to carry a flint that is not very noticable on my key ring...and have a few ideas in mind. Light weight, modest and durable are my personal guide lines, as this personal carry will only supplement until I could reach my other gear in the truck or home. :steer:

40 y.o. nylon wallet
sharpie
blanket pin as key fob(thanx in n out)
swiss army knife
stoopid cell phone- I can throw it at an attacking bear, so it serves as dual purpose.....
If need be, I can weave a rope about 50 feet long from the hairs on my chinney chin chin.
I spend alot of time w/ all kinds of equipment strapped to my waist, so I try not to carry any more than I have to, when I'm on my time.....

It would be interesting to see how many of us carry overlapping gear, i.e. knife, rope, etc (standard issue MUD gear-LOL). Lets keep this going.....

You definitely need to check out ZombieSquad

I don't carry much survival gear on me other than a pocket knife. I do keep some in the truck. If I am not at home when the apocalypse comes, I am pretty much SOL.

Leatherman Micra, the one with scissors. Useful for opening packages of parts, cleaning my fingernails, tightening the screws on my glasses and opening beer. The kind of situations I run into daily.

Trimline nail clippers, you never know when you will get a hang nail.

AAA card, changing flats in traffic is not my cup of tea.

Cell phone, to make the call to AAA.

I need to post up some pictures of what I have listed, as it is very light and not bulky. Not looking to slay any zombies, but be prepared for sustaining or assisting in extraction from a non-typical situation.

Pictures.

Here are the items that I carry daily as described in the intial thread:
Jocelyn Bday MUD 018.webp
Jocelyn Bday MUD 020.webp

Leatherman CX or gerber or swiss army .. in my 80 wire rope, winch control  water, few oil quarts, brake fluid and ATF ( for my power steering ) screw drivers and pliers ..

I also carry a spec-ops wallet, but the bigger one.
Keychain made from braided coyote tan 550.
Inside my wallet I carry cash, 3 picture forms of ID, cards, gauze pad, razor blades, ti-card.
In pockets I carry a leatherman charge, Droid, Emerson cqc7, stainless steel Sharpie.
On belt I usually carry a crkt first strike horizontally where a belt buckle would go.
Usually have a pistol w/ extra mag of some sort.
Small BIC lighter. Microlight with blue led.
Luminox watch.
Footwear than I can run in if need be.

In a jacket I carry a pad with paper, iodine swabs, more gauze, medical tape, poison ivy treatment, tylenol and other pain meds, benedryl and immodium tablets.
Red Sharpie and a mini space pen with extra refill.
Xacto knife with extra blade.
Bright orange trail tape
S30v kershaw leek
More 550
Jb weld
Two sets of nitrile gloves
One pair of thin wool gloves(army type)
Another extra mag
Chapstick
Another lighter
Surefire U2 ultra with 4piece battery pod
brunton compass
3' 14gauge wire
Charger for phone with extra battery
Two small neodenium magnets in the collar
Handcuff keys

And some other stuff.

BTW, you would never know I have all this gear by just looking at me. Keeping it streamlined and accessible.

If I leave town I take my "Go Bag" that has survival stuff; three sources of fire, para cord, signal mirror, Kabar, multi-band HAM radio, GPS, rain gear, etc etc etc.

I'm just wondering why anybody would feel the need to carry these type of supplies (or a sub set of them) every day.

I have a backpack in the car with my "stuff" It's pretty small also.
Otherwise I carry ... on me
Wallet ( always with a 20, 10, 5 and five 1s ) & obviously debit card, creditx1, emergency contacts, health card ....
phone
Thats it for ON ME stuff ... i'm pretty minimal and don't like watches, jewelery etc ... gets in the way.

As far as the backpack ...
Solar charger for phone which always has a 2 hour charge ready to go, like a battery/charger.
Sun Block
Assortment of first aid stuff .... band aids, ointments, etc ....
Diapers for the kids & baby wipes
2 Bottled waters (which I rotate weekly at most) & some granola bars or whatever ...
"spare" briefs, socks & shirt for me ... and kids. LOL.
Flash light and a leathermans ....

In the truck, in general, a blanket and pillow. random tools in a "sack".

Its a jacket with lots of pockets, not some 5.11 tacticool vest. It is my go bag. Purpose of a 'go' bag is that it goes with you and does not stay in a vehicle. Not everyone carries a purse and relies on others to help them out.
I transition from city to woods daily and have needed every one of these items at some time or another. Carry what you feel necessary, in my case these items are my minimum. They're lightweight and have little volume. There are not too many times when I say "I wish I had..."
Also plan for what your friends will need, because they're going to call you.
When I PLAN to be out and about ill bring my turtle shell.

Notice what is kept in a jacket and what is kept on person...
Take whatever tools you need. Carry something thoughtful and chances are that you will use it.
Wish I had a bottle opener. Oh wait, I do!

I can see that, when I worked mosquito abatement in the field my day pack was never more than a few hundred yards away. (It wasn't practical to carry a lot of stuff while slogging through swamps. )

This thread is turning out some great information for being prepared. It appears that many are carrying minimal, but essential gear on them, relying on a supplement of additional gear, i.e. bug-out-bag, go, bag, etc... either in their truck/vehicle or at home. Obiviously, the choices are personal and gear solutions differ from one to the next, but the basics are still water, fire, and shelter for survival. The goal of this thread is to get a "cross-section" of what you guys carry and why. Maybe the format for questioning should include the line of work or profession that you are involve with to help understand the background of you selections?

Dan-

I agree with you about carrying the basics and that has been my direction for personal selection of my gear, I never like to feel burdened by what I carry, but like the mental advantage of carrying a few essential "tools". I would venture to say that for most a knife is the most essential tool they carry.

figured i'd add what i carry in the vehicle too

Full change of clothes appropriate for the weather and a pair of danner boots. Collared shirt with tie. Sometimes a suit folded neatly and a small toiletries kit. You never know when you need to be better dressed. don't forget some shiny shoes.

Poncho w/liner. Cold weather sleeping bag if it is winter. heavy tarp.
Jar of honey and peanut butter. MRE X 3. 3L water
South African ammo can full of tools and another with recovery gear
Field jacket x2 because you'll always have a cold woman with you, even if the windows are up
air activated hot/warming patches. They're cheap and they work.
well thought of med kit and obviously marked in plain sight.
Climbing rope with basic harness seat and appropriate tackle
cold steel kukhri or spec-ops bolo and a regular sized ka-bar or hunting knife
surefire 10x dominator with charger (essentially a rechargeable hand held spot light) or other bright surefire flashlight with extra batteries swapped out every season.
Pack of black sharpies and cheapo bic pens
ax and tow chain for fallen trees in the truck and cruiser
military lensatic compass with local maps
6inch wide tape
in the winter i'll carry some tinder and a few pieces of firewood.
a dozen tea candles
Army special forces emergency medical book, a few books from the Foxfire series, and some random fiction or textbooks.
15' of that plastic orange construction fence net. that stuff comes in handy for all kinds of situations.
In the truck and cruiser i'll usually have a fishing pole with tackle. Not so practical in the car.
There are some other things, but this is pretty much it. Adapt to whatever vehicle you have and find spots to cram gear out of the way, but accessible
