Has anyone tried yet to use these coolers, and left them plugged into the truck power overnight, then see if they weakened the battery beyond starting power? If not, I may do that at home, see how they work. My concern, caption obvious here, is what happens when I go camping with the fridge, powering all day, stop driving around 6, and the not power the truck again for 12 hours with the fridge drawing power.

Yea same as above. had mine now 4+ months now plugged in 24/7 have yet to have one problem

Inaugural use in the LX. Turns out we already have 2 conveniently located mounting points. Yes, I still need to run power. Jump box will do in the meantime until I get where I'm going.

Does anyone know the amps / watts these draw?

I answered my own question but now have more...

Per EnviroCooler site, it draws 40 watts @ 12v which would be 3.33333333 amps. My inexperienced over-landing power consumption knowledge brain wants to know how long a device rated at say 50ah would power the cooler (assuming no recharging of device).

Is it as simple as 50/3.33333 which = ~15 hours? I'm confused as folks earlier in this thread mentioned leaving the cooler plugged into their cig lighter for 36 hours and no noticeable power draw on the battery??? Most car batteries are what like 50ah or so?

How to Calculate Battery Amp Hours - Deep Cycle Battery Store

^^ Too lazy to calculate for you.

You're not taking into account that the draw is max draw when the compressor is running, but it doesn't run all the time, especially when full.

Thanks.

Reading that article and your post confirms my suspicion...it depends. Specifically based on the avg amps drawn per hour which depends on how often during the hour the compressor cycles on which depends on the ambient temp of where the cooler is placed/temp of it's contents/etc. and how many times it might be opened.

I know what the MAX is so it would be more run time on avg but how much more...test and see.

Buy a bigger battery, Jon. :) I can offer this - The jump box method I used to power mine in the pic above (Nov 4) only lasted approximately overnight and completely drained the box. As in, it took a solid 24 hours to recharge the box.

Sidebar 1 - I forgot to make a Habitat Restore run when I was in RDU yesterday. Does anybody in Charlotte have an extra Enviro to sell?

Sidebar 2 - Does anybody in Charlotte (or anyone going to CRR) have any Anderson connectors they wanna unload? @weejub ...I'm thinking you used to? Oh, if only I'd slept with you taken you up on your offer of lodging last night!

That is my conundrum partially. Trying to decide if I want the Goal Zero 400 with another battery in chain or the Goal Zero 1k.

Any idea what the amp hour rating on that jump box was? Wouldn’t think it would be very much.

In addition to @JohnVee getting any extra Envircoolers, is there another one that may be for sale at Relic Run?

John - I could have helped you on both Sidebars :) But it was LATE and I was TIRED - I was ASLEEP before I knew for you were going on :)
