Jim,

This is how my lower ports on my carb are routed. Lower left port routed to 1* advance on distributor diaphragm. Center angled port goes to the HAC. The top left and bottom right are both capped.

OK, that's perfect hose routing.

The other 2 should be capped off separately, because one port (upper) is manifold vacuum, and the other port (lower) is ported, so at idle, the upper port is sucking free air from the ported port. It's a vacuum leak, but a small one.

Idea: Stick a BB in the loop of hose to separate the 2 fittings.

I actually drove it around the neighborhood tonight! First time it's left the garage since January. Woot! Anyway, I fixed all of the leaks that made themselves obvious and cleaned up the vacuum hoses a little bit. Here are shots of the FINISHED motor.

And with the air cleaner on and everything capped.

Now I just have to figure out why the power steering isn't working!

Everything is all mounted up and working great. It actually drives decently down the road. However... my heater core is leaking like a sieve!:mad::mad:

I guess I'll spend most of saturday tracking that down. It should be a bit easier this go around though.

3-day weekend coming up. Plans:

-Swap out heater core (again)
-Wire in CD player
-Recover/mount new door panels
-Mount rear cargo panels

Then, the motor and interior phases will be COMPLETELY done. If I have time, I'll start tearing the axles, suspension, and steering out. I've been so busy with work, we'll see what actually happens though.

I'm tearing into the suspension and axles this week. I picked up some springs and shocks from a guy that had been sitting on his 60 for awhile. Only have a couple thousand miles on everything but had been sitting for awhile. Good excuse for a rebuild.

Pulled the leaves apart, wire wheeled, painted, and jig-a-loo'd (graphite spray to keep springs from squeaking) them before reassembly.

Coupled with new bushings, this might as well be a brand new set.

_MG_8006.jpg

Going to do the same to these bad boys tomorrow. For now, it's time to hit the books!

_MG_8005.jpg

Oh yeah, and gave the shocks some love too.

Off to the library!

Cool build up. Looks real clean in that engine bay. Is your heater core still leaking?

Thanks! Yeah, it's still leaking. I've got another one to replace it with. For now, the hoses that go into the core are bypassed so that it doesn't flood my fresh interior.

Good ol' fashion rustoleum.

I would've gotten more done this weekend but got guilt tripped into doing a TJ clutch job on a friends jeep.

So I'm starting on the axles, suspension, frame, etc... Whilst removing the front bumper I broke off 2 bolts and had to drill out 2 others with a 15/16" bit. Major PITA but I guess that's to be expected from a truck thats older than I am.

Here are all of the suspension goodies that got cleaned up and are ready for installation. They look a lot better now.

So I'm rebuilding the knuckles and replacing the wheel bearings. I also am upgrading to 4-runner calipers and rotors in the front. I may end up using a T-100 master cylinder depending on how the brakes feel with the new schwag.

I feel like this shock probably wasn't doing much in terms of dampening... anything.

Here's an idea of how disgusting the front half of the truck is from many years of leaking knuckles, power steering, oil, mud, dirt.... and whatever else a farm truck runs through.

And after wrenching for 30 mins, cleaning for an hour, wrenching for 30 mins, cleaning for an hour, etc.... here is where I am. I'm going to pull the birf tomorrow and repack/rebuild/clean everything.

Here are all of the gaskets and bearings needed for a knuckle rebuild.

After complete teardown, the knuckle had a small burn mark area. Hope this is ok.

I've been getting the frame and axles cleaned up. There has been almost NO rust on any of these parts as the oil and PS fluid leaks have kept it in an oily cacoon for the last several years. I've gotten the drivers side axle cleaned up and ready for reassembly. If my brake parts come in I will probably tear into the passenger side axle this weekend.

So I didn't get ANYTHING done today like I had planned. I have been running around, acquiring parts, at the gym, etc, etc and now I've been informed that there is an Oktoberfest festival happening downtown tonight. So, yeah, the truck can wait.

I did pick up a set of wheels and tires. (4) 17" Nissan Titan wheels wrapped with 285/70/17 BFG All Terrains. This is about a 33x11.50 so that is perfect for this truck. The wheels will be getting a little love from the machine shop as the hub does not pass through the center cap hole. I also have some 1.5" spacers to set them correctly under the wheel well.

And all of my brake parts are here. Calipers and rotors are from a 95 4Runner and should fit with a little trimming of the backing plate. I may or may not need to upgrade to a larger volume master cylinder. We'll see how it feels.

Can't wait to see how this turns out. Would love to take a ride once it's fully "done." May sell my 100 for a high mpg DD and follow a similar path to what you have for an expedition vehicle....:hhmm:

My driver's side frame looks pretty much like that, but I don't have a pretty frame underneath:crybaby:

Impressive work E! Thanks for the tip on Quadratec.
Looks like they also have good pricing on lighting, winches and such. Got any more pics of your console installed...does it protrude much into the rear passenger floorboard?
Would like to see your rig and drink a beer the next time I am in Denver on biz. I'm a big fan of the chili beer down at Wynkoop's.
Keep up the good work bro
