Hi All,

I just wanted to share my findings with Ya'll. I needed edge trim for the 40 to protect the new paint so I went on McMasters-Carr ( McMaster-Carr) and ordered some Neoprene rubber edge trim. I didn't want to use the plastic stuff as it is harder on the paint and doesn't look nice after some time.

The trim I bought fit like a GLOVE and looks damn good (to me).

Here are the sizes:

Top of tub: Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim, 3/16" Opening, 5/16" Inside Depth Item:8507K21 ($1.19 per ft.). I ordered 12 feet with ~3 feet left over but I did not do the top of the rear ambulance doors (still need to paint those).

Door trim: Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim, 3/16" Opening, 5/8" Inside Depth Item: 8507K67 ($1.44 per ft.).. I ordered 12 feet and have about another 4-5 feet left.

Total bill was ~$39.50

It's very nice stuff and Neoprene does well outdoors under exposure.

Looks damn nice to me too :)

Thanks Tom, hope this isn't repeat info

I just noticed my tires match my truck :p

Thanks for this info. This stuff came with a hardtop i had gotten from a guy and i wanted more but didn't know where it came from. The guy i bought it from said it was part of his aftermarket tub to hardtop seal he bought from ccot that he included with the top for me. thanks for this link i was trying to find out where to get this stuff for a while.

btw it looks awsome on your truck

Will the hard top sit on top of the trim on the back or will you remove it first? Did you glue it on? Looks really good.

I don't have the hardtop around to try it right now and I've never installed one on a cruiser before. it is not glued but fits well and so completely that it stays on even when my son climbs over it. I got some left over so if Ya want PM me your address and I'll cut a piece off and send to you to try.

You may want to post this in the "best cheap mods" thread. I like this but will probably not be able to find it when I need it.:meh:

'nuther alternative

Good info, thanks for sharing.

FWIIW, CCoT sellls the door trim for $7.95 Door Jam Edge Guard

and the hardtop to top molding for $19.95 Weatherstripping Hard Top to Tub

It ain't OE but it looks OK and the top fits with it on. Total ~$28 + the ride

Did you not know about/like this? Just curious.

I think the CCoT kit was on my cruiser when I bought it but I didn't know they had a kit until now.

That's cool. I wasn't sure if what you had was significanlty different/better than the CCoT stuff or if you were unaware. It's great to know of other alternatives.

I had a bunch of kids and teenagers climbing over the truck this weekend. The trim is holding up pretty good with no cuts or wear.

I think that CCoT edge guard is what I put around the bezel before mounting it to the bib.
Looks good, and no more sharp edges to rub on the paint.

Nice! I purchased similar edge welting at SOR, and paid $1.25/ft ($1.12/ft with the SOR discount).

Search SOR under "edge welting, it comes in 3 different colors.
