literally:

a good friend recently connected me (and Michael) with a friend of hers, with the premise to introduce a complete novice (with a new-to-them Jeep Wrangler JL) to wheeling in Arizona

so, if you are also new to wheeling, or just want to go on some nice trails around Phoenix that are "stock-truck-friendly", keep an eye out here for announcements

we do not have a firm schedule yet, but the general idea is to run trails like Four Peaks Road, Bulldog Canyon (requires you to get a permit Tonto National Forest - Bulldog Canyon Off-Highway Vehicle Area - https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/tonto/recarea/?recid=35555), some playing in The Rolls or around Sycamore Creek/Sugarloaf, maybe run FR41 (requires AZ State Land permit https://asld.secure.force.com/recreationalpermit/), or just go up to Humboldt Peak for the views - and, if ambitious, even go all the way through Bloody Basin to I-17 . . . :steer:

I’m very interested in some easy wheeling with my kiddos. Nice views, great company and dusty picnics sound great. We’ll try to make as many as we can. Saturday mornings are usually soccer days but if you guys are out on a Sunday please let me know. Thank you for sharing with the group.

@TheGrrrrr has banned me from any difficult runs because my his future paint is too pretty. FIFY
Your paint is likely getting ceramic coated next weekend if you want to come help :zilla:

But in all seriousness, @ncavi10 moved back into town and I am sure him +1 would be game for some easy runs as well. Maybe @knewstance too?

plans are shaping up for Thursday April 14th:

trail to be taken: Four Peaks Road, up from the Fountain Hills side, proceeding down to the Roosevelt Lake side (unless it's raining hard), and back on asphalt via Beeline Highway (SR87)

meeting at 10 am at the Chevron gas station (formerly known as Ba'ja) on the Ft. McDowell Indian Reservation, off the Beeline Highway - bring your own lunch and plenty of water - with some sightseeing time allowed, we should return to the Valley in the late afternoon

here's the Google Maps link for the meeting spot: Chevron · 10180 N Fort McDowell Rd, Fort McDowell, AZ 85264 - https://www.google.com/maps/place/Chevron/@33.5791558,-111.6803252,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x872ba2cf246648a1:0x4f47158266d9283!8m2!3d33.5791558!4d-111.6781365

please post up here if you plan on attending and want us to make sure to wait for you - or send me a PM

3 vehicles confirmed for now . . .

"This Monday run will be going out with Supervisor’s Office personnel; botanist Robert Madera and fire ecologist Mary Lata. We have discussed a few possible options with them and will be sure to update this event as soon as we have a confirmation on where they would like to go. Please check back or keep an eye out for updated event information as soon as it becomes available.

Plans for tomorrow, Friday 15th:

meet at the same gas station at 9am: Chevron · 10180 N Fort McDowell Rd, Fort McDowell, AZ 85264 - https://www.google.com/maps/place/Chevron/@33.5791558,-111.6803252,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x872ba2cf246648a1:0x4f47158266d9283!8m2!3d33.5791558!4d-111.6781365

We plan to run through Bulldog Canyon, entering at the Usery side, and mostly likely go all the way through to Apache Junction

Bulldog Canyon requires a permit (those of you who did that as the December "Run of the Month" may still have a valid permit, check the sates):

Tonto National Forest Off-Highway Vehicle Permit, Tonto National Forest - Recreation.gov - https://www.recreation.gov/vehiclepermits/3332401 - click "Get Permit"

if you want to join, please post up here or send a PM so we know to wait for you.
