Here is a snap of my '04 Hilux, and a snap of the engine for Dan.:) Great little truck around town, but absolute crap on the highway (24 MPH in town, 14 MPG on the highway). Sadly, Toyota got rid of the solid front axle after 1997 in Australia.

Cheers,

Josh

That's awesome! What's up with the lame mileage on the highway? That's apretty big mileage loss, is that at 70+MPH, or even at 50MPH?

yodafrick: is it yours? That's the coolest thing I've seen all day.

Nah, I wish! Owner is Bruce, the owner of Overland Experts. Four wheel training facility/ worldwide expedition outfitter headquartered in CT. It was at my buddy's house, my friend was installing an intercooler.

Cool truck, but had some strange motor crap going on. Had a 2LT from another rig and also a head stamped 3B. Slightly molested. I'd still drive the crap out of it!

Dan,

The stupid thing came with 4:88 gears from the factory. I never used 1st gear, and seldom used 2nd. At 100 KPH (62 MPH) in 5th gear, I was turning over 3300 RPM. This is good in Australia, though, as the speed limits are so low, and the police are extremely strict.

It was great off road- at low RPM the fuel gauge never moved...on the freeway, though, I could just about stir up dust with the needle.

Cheers,

Josh

Cool truck, but had some strange motor **** going on. Had a 2LT from another rig and also a head stamped 3B. Slightly molested. I'd still drive the **** out of it!

From what I understand the 2LT and 2LTE had head issues and the solution is to put a head for a 3L into it.

How about some more?
