Because the 2L engine was replaced with an L engine that was using lots and lots of oil, I ended up pulling it. It is currently getting a 4.3 vortec swap with 4l60E and dual cases...stay tuned.

oh...it had a factory solid front axle...

I saw one of these while traveling in S.A. and I remember wondering what the sheetmatal and chassis were like and whether or not this front clip option would fit around an American 3.4 swap w/o having to add in a body lift or hood trim with a scoop for my '95 4Runner. :D Diesel IIRC to boot, wonderful torque curve!

For anyone wanting to drool around all the import options for Canada, here you go: Outback Imports - Used TOYOTA DIESEL HILUX 4x4 TRUCK for sale

:D Second thing I wondered is how easily I could convert one to LHD! :wrench:

Seriously!?!?! A 4.3 Vortec?!?!? Heathen!

You've got a double can hilux and are not putting the 3L back in (it should have had a 3L originally) or a 1KZ-TE?!?! I think that's nuts.

Factory solid axle and double cab--win.

What do you mean "had" a solid front axle though!?!!

Dan

woops....it still has the solid axle. had and still has.

someone had replaced the 2l or 3l with an L. On the way to Rausch Creek (a 4 hour drive that took 5.5hrs) I used checked the fuel and filled it up with oil. I used 8 quarts on the trip. yikes.

I imported a 2l-te, but then got scared with all the head issues.

Good call on the 2LT-E.

That said, I'd rather have a 2LT-E than a Chevy. :flipoff2: Why on EARTH would someone put an L in--anything. Did they not know how anemic it would be?

So, why no more pictures and info on where you got it and whatnot? That truck is too cool to keep quiet.

Dan

sure, here's a couple. Also one of my 1987 Landcruiser which I had before the hilux!

That is too cool.

Seriously, I hope you're signed up for a ROTM. I want to see and hear a lot more about that truck. It's beautiful!

Dan

Here is mine, 89 LN106, solid axle, 3L. Thing is a steel mountain goat!

Here is a snap of my '04 Hilux, and a snap of the engine for Dan.:) Great little truck around town, but absolute crap on the highway (24 MPH in town, 14 MPG on the highway). Sadly, Toyota got rid of the solid front axle after 1997 in Australia.

Cheers,

Josh
