Took the boys on a walk this morning at 0500. Ran into this bobcat doing the same. He must have sat looking at us for a minute. It was early enough that none of us had our morning coffee yet. Not a bark or growl from anyone. Love the pre sunrise walks

@fireflyr so, being an east coaster full of rules and a 1960 Catholic school rule follower…( yes, the beat it into you). . .what do you do if the cat decided to change his “thinking”. Can you carry weapons or …?

The dogs are amazingly chill. My lab saw a squirrel this afternoon and LEAPED into the air at the tree and nailed the poor squirrel.

Truthfully, I’ve never felt the need to carry here. We have mountain lions and bears and in 25 years have never had a problem.
I set up a game camera on my patio about 10 years ago and the next day was reviewing the pictures and it had me walking through, 2 minutes later our old Aussie and 2 minutes after that a big black bear. Pretty sure he was watching the whole time.
For a while pigs were tearing up the lawn but Cal put an end to that.
Montana, now that’s a completely different dynamic. Bear spray and a loaded .45.

Getting ready to fill in the gaps in the stepping stones. There was grass in there but it was a trip hazard.
 
This was a few years back (January 2017) when Koko was still with us. My wife had been walking the night before in a light snow; those are her prints in the middle of the road. The next morning we took Cal and Koko for a walk and found these lion prints.
They were huge compared to the dogs (you can see the dog prints next to the cat’s prints in the second photo) and the stride was twice that of the dogs. Must have been a big cat.
I may have carried the Kimber for a while after that.

Just for comparison, Koko was about 80 pounds and Cal was 110 pounds.

Ouch, This one stings. The doodle and I took our final gravel road sunset cruise together last night 😢

Belly full of sirloin and a drive by ole factory tour of the countryside. Happy pup and always down for a car ride to the very end.
