Old dogs are so bittersweet. Our old girl stopped waking up and greeting us at the door every time we come home a couple weeks ago. Now this week her hips are starting to give her trouble.

I'm sorry I only got the last 9 of her 15 years so far, and seeing that the water is going out for good is hard.

We still have her for now though.

Two nights ago, she felt good enough for a short walk, and surprisingly she felt spry enough to catch, kill and eat a field rat along our walking trail.

She tried to bring it in the house, but my lovely bride objected so she had to eat it outside.

Dogs ended up inside whilst a mate was trying find the fox to give it a lead injection... failed in finding it, but the dogs got mobbed by the eldest.

The poor old dog had all the toys put in her basket with her:

And then shown how to use the noisy walker thing:

The younger dog just wanted cuddles by the fire

And tried to get some kisses

(Yes, the house is chaos, the eldest is 20 months old and there is a month old as well... and it's not a big house...)

Last night I got a call about a stray dog killing chickens down in Hickman county. The dog was friendly and hanging around, so I agreed to go down and rescue the dog. They said it was a yellow lab, but I was thrilled to discover the dog appears to be a large frame Black Mouth Cur. Been looking to rescue one since I moved to Tennessee.

He is a big boy and appears to be a young pup. Maybe 10 months old.

He is extremely calm and stubborn, which tracks for a cur dog.

Went to an adoption event today with this good boy. As we pulled up to park, he was riding in the back seat. A jeep pulled up beside us and a young lady with a string top and generous assets gets out.

This little chaos agent jumps up into the front seat with his d*ck out and trying to get her attention. She leans in to give him pets and baby talk.

You know, that never worked for me when I was younger for some reason.

Where are the pictures of these “generous assets” as you put it?

If I thought this was anything other than a $3500 dog truck I'd be pissed

Oh, Monday... Starting off the week with some stick whittlin' before starting the work day. It's not a perfect life, but finding a little serenity for all three of us before getting the day rolling always makes it a little better

The gf is sending me pictures of the dog while I'm on vacation.

Yesterday I was video chatting and I called him and he started running around looking for me

He's officially 5 months old now
