Just wanted some good or bad about the rear bumper with the ladder on back? Any photos?

I have an INTI roof rack and saw Slee offers a rear bumper with a ladder option that I like. If you have one, what are your thoughts on the Slee or other?

Mine has the valley brand trailer hitch that came when it when I bought it new, does the bumper fit without losing the hitch?

I have INTI and Slee bumper with ladder. Makes getting on the roof very easy. I also have the fuel can basket that attaches to the ladder. I don't leave it on since getting the INTI. Now I put fuel/water on the roof.

What do you do about towing?
I haven't had a need to tow with it. I use my F350 for those needs. Slee sells a receiver hitch for the bumper if towing is needed.

Love my ladder roof rack combo. Makes getting home depot stuff really easy. I tow as well and its a m101 and they have a short reach. Two swing out arms prevent interference with the trailer. No issues

This pic was before I finished adding all accessories. Don't seem to have a pic fully kitted out

I carry chainsaw fuel in a rotopax. I also carry hand washing water, high lift and shovel etc

This picture shows the backside of the ladder. The panel on front is the mount for the hand washing station and shovel and axe. It swings open to allow climbing the ladder.

I have a home built bumper with a ladder and tire carrier. The ladder comes in handy when it's time to load up the boats on the rack. Before the ladder I was always climbing on the tire/rear window openings. I took my hitch off when u got the truck and welded an insert in the rear crossmember. So when I had the bumper built I had a hole cutout around the hitch and slid the bumper over it. I've pulled everything from gravel, mulch, firewood, and haven't had a problem.

replies

Thanks for the replies and photos. I was gonna get an interior tire mount, but hate to lose the room inside. How is seeing out the back? Or backing a boat in the water? Maybe a backup camera installed?

Sean Huston in San Diego makes a great rear bumper available with swing out ladder/ tire carrier.
I LOVE mine! Reasonably priced and very well made! Great customer service to boot!
Here's a pic of mine without the jerry can basket...

with rear tire

How is seeing out the back with a rear tire mount? I run stock tires so I may leave tire under or move it in, still undecided. All the photos posted are nice designs on some really nice rigs. Thank you for taking the time to post.

Its never perfect. I can see my trailer when I tow, and see cars following me.

I chose to have my tire on the driver's side to minimize blind spots. These trucks are a fish bowl so you should be fine for regular driving

I do have problems seeing things that are small and low and directly behind me. I'm running a four inch lift. Narrowly missed a honda accord directly behind when backing up. An on looker shouted and I stopped.

The tire, ladder, and lift combo didn't help. I use my mirrors in parking lots and go slow.

Rear view camera is my next step. The 315 spare covers up some real estate but it's not too bad. Couple that though with the Speski Barrier and the rear view feels smaller. I've had vehicles pull up behind me that I could not see thru any mirror. 4" lift here as well.

Gobi makes a ladder that fits the rear hatch of an 80

I know I've seen something similar somewhere in all of my reading here on Mud but if you'd be so kind to point to a specific example I'd appreciate it. Googling "Gobi Ladder" doesn't get me anything....(plenty of roof racks).

In short, I'm interested in a ladder that (if it exists) is only attached to the rear hatch so opening it gets it out of the way without first having to swing it out of the way (like most of the current ladder/swingouts operate).

thx!
