Speaking of mockup on vera, spent some time at the shop assisting with door mounting and helping to line up rear cab top extension. Bonus is lunch, a couple beers and parts swapping. Grabbed 2 roller 16" wheels for my project, some inner fender wells and dropped off my 100 series 3rd row seats that will be going in a locals ride. May be the first time this ride has had doors on it. Starting to look like a real vehicle. I believe it really started to line up after I left. Mcdesigns quick hinges, 45 cabs are a little more complicated to line up than a 40.

Mucho Thanks goes out again to @tornadoalleycruiser …. More pics. I learned a bunch as well. It appears that this windshield was for a factory soft top, to convert it to hard top all need to do some work!!! Cut off the front soft top edge piece, weld some additional metal to the corners and add the connector latch things. I’m sure there’s more…. Will have to compare mine to others.

We also installed the quick hinges…. Which are nothing close to quick to install…. Ended up having to do quite a bit of elongating of holes to get the doors where I wanted them. The best thing was that I had not welded the dash in yet so access was easy.

Started to finish the repairs…. Sandblasted, then painted with master series. Bent up this new section to weld on.

just saw these.... feeling deflated....

If you decide to buy one they are or were 20% off if you buy direct from their website. The roofs are pretty reasonable too.

I have not see the quality yet of the parts but I think it is still worth saving the old metal if possible.

Well, I am going to assume they are 20 gauge metal and fit like crap..... moving on.

Working on the top, can someone confirm the width, right behind the bolt at the top behind the door.

Got the sides all welded up, so started working on the next issue below driver window…. I use other scraps from the Fj40 top, although that window is larger…. And finally shrunk and bent the piece to do the lower section under the corner windows. Down to four sections of repair.

Probably am overkilling it, but once i fab a piece that it going to be in an inside cavity, I prime the inside with the mastercoat.

The China panels have definitely made me rethink my DIY 45 plans. I have one of the doors here and it is pretty nice. Assuming the fitment is good would be perfectly acceptable vs expesive rusty parts..

Seems like the windshield frame would be a easy trade for someone who needs a FST version?

Absolutely. I would gladly trade with someone that wants a FST version. Similar condition of course....

Kelly, I have a spare frame you can take a look at. They are heavy and large and shipping would suck. Very minor tweak/ding in it but a couple pulls with the spotwelder/slide hammer and some heat and it should be fine. We should fix it anyway.

I was very nervous about the rear moving with the welding heat, so I did 99.9% of the welding on the vehicle.... took it off and did the rest, and went to put it on and it had moved inward at the pegs by about 3/4".... I was so deflated!!!. Called the best metal man in town @kc_chevota and 30 minutes later, had it fitting perfectly again.

So, got excited and popped the roof on... of course need to add about 3" to it still...
