I started updating my gallery last night but it might be after I get home that all the countries are loaded and organized.

I am really enjoying the new gallery folder set-up and I just bumped my cruiser desktop for yours. Congrats and reaching your destination and hopefully there is a dead end street you can shoot one last pic of the cruiser at! Or just a shot of the bay in front of you.

Hijack

By the way his cruiser has the 4.7 ltr engine and he was very disappointed about it's lack of power and Toyota's decision to market this smaller gas engine all around the world versus the big one only offered in the states.

200 series with the 2UZ engine . ?

Here are only available with the 1VD-FTV and the 5.7 that it's the same in the new Tundra ..

Hijack over ..

That's right, no diesel for us and only the 2UZ 4.7L gas engine and it really needs the 5.7 cause it weights a lot more than the 80 series 1FZJ.

By the way his 200 has the KDSS suspension and he told me it's absolutely astonishing.

just a couple of pics from waaaaay down south. i'm not sure how many read the blog but my arrival in Ushuaia was a bit inglorious. so i've attached a pic of my folly. yesterdayi drove southeast about 75 miles from here and reached the true end of the road. i tried to sneak some stickers on the station but no go. the guy was nice and was proud of his location but was a little curt and his dogs mean so the pic taking was brief.

Rear driveline is pulled. A front wheel drive 80 on a washboard road can be a bit squirrely. Didn't know i had the power to break the tires loose but sure enough it's possible. my power steering box is leaking. i have no desire to source the leak yet. could be a $3k fix or a leaking hose. we'll see once i get home. after the abuse my truck has gone through over the past 5 months i'm very happy that those are the only two issues i've had. (the fuse blowing was my bumper fab, not toyota's fault) 195k miles on the truck and everything is stock in the drivetrain except the PHH and 4.88s.

Just looking at the photo's and seeing it go into the container.....where do you put the roof top ten or other items when shipping? In the truck or do the let you place them in the container?

That was a bit of a mix up. Originally I was going to split a 40footer with 4 motorcycles. So we ordered the taller container. When I switched to a 20, no one told me 20ft only came in standard height. Showed up at the port and panicked a bit. Scepter cans and action packer went into the truck and tent got strapped down underneath the spare behind it. you can it in the pics.

I forgot to mention that I put up a pic of a Coaster in the Guatemala (I think) gallery. If I'm not mistaken it is the bus you early 80 guys got your tranny from. nope sorry i didn't crawl under it to take any pics.

Hey Dave, Congrats on the Journey. I just showed my 10 year old daughter post #200. She is amazed how far youve gone with the 80 series LC. Im hoping she got inspired by your journey - that goals and dreams are possible. Thanks for this thread. Safe trip back home!

thanks man I appreciate it. One of my friends has a SA map in his office and is using it to help his kids learn their South American geography. I was IMing his 9 yr old the other night and it is weird to know I am having an affect on how he views the world. Many people inspired me to go after my dream and I hope I have in some small way passed that on. whoa that was sort of sappy.:flipoff2: how's that?

Hope you get home soon! As well as Rubi Clare (SP?)

Just a few questions/observations from your new gallery folders.

How did the ruins in Gutemala compare to Machu Picchu? I know for me Machu Picchu blew away Chicheniza in Cancun MX and I am wondering how Guetamala compares.

My GF & I promised to take her Niece & Nephew to Europe next year if they got accepted to a 4 yr college but with the Euro kicking our US $$$$ we are going to try and convince them over the next year to go to Central or South America instead! We will probably be using your photo album to convince them. Unfortunately my Cruiser Deze will not be making the trip. :crybaby:

And lastly this looks like a mouth full.

well there were two of us at the time eating the snickers and honestly they hit the spot. came out of a fridge at a roadside tienda in guatemala.

hard to compare Machu Piccu to Tikal. i would need to think about it to form an adequate response. However I can say without question that Tikal was infinitely better than Chizten Itza. I made the comment to my friend when we left Mexico that Chitzen Itza was a lot lot Disneyland. It was very sanitary and artificial. i don't know if that rings true or makes sense or not but I left there and tulume disappointed. After leavin Tikal i wanted to do nothing but go back for more. Still what I think is a very honest and accurate example of Mayan life. I loved the Guatemalan ruins.

Now compared to MP i'm not sure my experience there was the best to accurately compare. I was sick as a dog the 3 days leading up to it and the train ride up there made me nauseated again. I loved it there. the location was unreal and unequaled. It still had a bit of cleanliness to it that I think devalues the experience. The further they get with the restoration the more I think it will take on that feel too. Tikal were my favorite off all the ruins along my trip. Some of the Spanish colonial stuff in Cartegena would be next. Yes I realize they are not pre-colombian but I really enjoy them. Maybe because it was easier for me to wrap my head around. I could somehow relate to it.

All my sympathy, Dave for your dull ordeal. It must be unnerving to have to wait and wait after mastering such an incredible journey. Sending good vibes.
