Thanks Jim!
I got your message and will give you a call tomorrow.

Thanks guys! Seams to be a lot of interest.
Let me ask you guys this, how many will turn the interest to an order if the design is what your looking for.
I'll be building a set for @fireball for sure but the amount of serious buyers will determine how much time I put into developing production bumpers.
I can build a set of bumper custom to the vehicle with it here pretty easily, turning that into a production bumper that can be reproduced on jigs is a totally different story.
It will be at least $7-10k and 100s of hours in prototyping and cad work before I have a production ready front and rear bumper. I recently was pretty disappointed with a different platform, had over 100 guys say they were in and when it came time to release the front I received 7 orders! 10 orders I break even but really need more like 20 to start making a profit.
So with that said, how many of you will back your interest with orders on the first run assuming I deliver the end result you are looking for?
Thanks!

That’s a fair question. I’m interested (2016) however I’d would need more information before deciding between TT bumper or yours. Weight, options, cost, timing, and design would all play a part.

An option could be like a kickstarter program where you take preorders at a discounted cost to 1) cover costs of R&D and 2) generate interest by getting your product out into the world. I imagine most new buyers would come from word of mouth.

My exacts thoughts regarding commitment, but for a 2013 LC... "I’m interested (2016) however I’d would need more information before deciding between TT bumper or yours. Weight, options, cost, timing, and design would all play a part."

I will not be taking any money until I have the bumpers on @fireball rig completed or close to it.
That way I'm not asking for blind commitment. The design and options will be on par with my current offerings so there will be no shortage of options.
What really sets us apart from the rest is the innovation with the swing out designs and the extreme attention to every detail of the bumpers.
I am willing and happy to put in the time and money as long as the interest is there.
Seams like most of the interest has been in aluminum so far so I will likely put my focus on the aluminum first.

Here is a quick list of possible options and projected weights.

52-60 lbs, internally reinforced and winch ready, multiple light cutouts options. Multiple bolt on stinger and bull bar options. Cost, $1600-1900

10ga internally reinforced with 1/4" frame bracket steel,
110-120lbs same options as above but steel. Cost, $1100-1300

Rear aluminum steel hybrid,
1/4" aluminum with steel swing arms and aluminum accessories.
Tire carrier, high-lift mount, camera relocation, parking sensor accommodations, bumper mount trailer plug, backup lights, short swing arms with our custom slam latch, gas strut to hold open, soft close and open bump stops, bumper will work with or without swing outs, swing out are easily removed when not in use, heavy duty dual shear hinge bracket.

Cost, $1800-3500 depending on options.

Rear steel with same options as above
120-230lbs

Hopefully that gives a better idea of what expect with standard options.
Custom is always available as well but will add to the cost. All products are proudly made 100% in house and in the USA! Again some pics of the quality you can expect to see on anything that comes out of our shop.
Also feel free to check out our threads over in the 100 series section and on Instagram. There should be a lot of good pics and info on our current products.
Thanks!
Ben

Benc....I really am all in. I have been searching for over a year for a lightweight solution. Was considering going up to CBI and begging with vast infusions of cash. I'd like to see a rough drawing maybe....although I love your past work. My deposit is waiting. I am willing to give a very large deposit. You appeared with exactly what I have been looking for. I won't be backing out....no friggin way. This is really a Godsend.
Thanks so much. Hell I'm even buying another vehicle to be without my Cruiser. I'm all in buddy.

I’m iffy on the rear because i don’t know if i want a rear bumper at all on the 200. Will have to drive it a while and see.

But I’m all in on the front. Done deal.

I'm definitely interested pending final design. Although I'm probably not ready for about 1yr. I'm not sure how long the R&D would take but I imagine that it will take a bit.

If design and features matches what I am looking for then I'm definitely interested.

@Dissent - you may have covered this already - for the front bumper, is this a direct replacement with no cutting of the factory plastic facia?
pop off the Tupperware and bolt your bumper on?

That is not the plan.

To achieve the look of Ben's other bumpers some of the factory trim will need to be retained and cut to fit.

When you get around to a 2008-2012 LX570 version I’m in for full Aluminum front.

Agree with @Willy beamin the bumper should replace the entire front fascia.

Like the rhino for example

I bought my 200 with really nice bumpers already installed, so I won’t be a customer this go round.

But I wanted to put a plug in for @benc . I have seen your 100 bumpers in person and love your design. It was the nicest swing out latch system I have seen! I love your sleek high clearance designs.

I would also advise others to embrace a well designed aluminum bumper! I had a custom bullbar on my 3/4 diesel, it was lighter than my 80s ARB and felt much more sturdy with the thicker front plate.

@benc any thoughts on aluminum bumpers for the 80s? I definitely need front and rear bumpers for mine.

This will require cutting, I am not a fan of full replacement bumpers on the newer vehicles for multiple reasons.
# 1 I don't like the look,
#2 a lot of extra weight,
#3 with all that metal up high the leverage on a light upper impact will cause more damage than if the bumper was not there,
#4 these bodies move a lot! There must at least be 5/8" gap to allow proper body to frame movement and this gap is not achievable around the headlights without severely sacrificing ascetics.
#5 proper clearance to allow the bumper to give in the event of a collision without becoming a damaged multiplier.
#6 all vehicles are different and to get the lines to match on a production bumper on every vehicle is near impossible.
#7, on the 200 there is a lot of molded waffle reinforcement behind the wings of the bumper, this ends up being visible with proper body gaps.

Gottcha, thanks for the deadly 7 reasons why.

FWIW bulb weatherstrip/trim tends to do a good job hiding the gaps. I don't think the TT bumper adds weight with the design - with the bullbar it's about 125#. But it does potentially mean several different iterations depending on model year, and cutting the factory bumper does give more forgiveness in the tolerances.

Yeah it does decent job. I use that on my gx bumper.
My biggest issue is the possible contact with the head lights on a light impact.
There are definitely some pros on cons on both options
