I know of at least 6 local 60’s that would benefit from your idea.

I think the other real need for 60’s is the center dash surround, most are cracked beyond repair. I’ve JB weld and super glued a few back to life but the real solution needs to be a 3D printed copy or better still an aluminum version.

I was looking into it and then another member said he was going to make them ( @MrK ??) so I quit the pursuit... It's off my board now and I doubt I'll come back around to it.

Maybe it was @NLXTACY who was going to make some before his dance card filled up with the turbo for 80’s. Hoping someone will make them, the 3D printing version will not likely survive long term in the heat of the desert Southwest.

Thanks for all of your great work @reevesci.

Yeah I think @MrK was looking at 3D printing, Not sure if Joey @NLXTACY was going to make one or not. So many have said they are going to make one. I planned on a CNC milled aluminum version, but that ships has sailed.

Jason,
I been trying to work out some kinks with it. The molds I got made do not transfer the alum properly during the pour since the walls are so thin. So unfortunately can't give an exact timeline when I will be able to get them perfected. Don't want to make empty promises but hopefully in meantime someone has access to a large 3D printer.

Keep on it, it'll be a seller for 20-30 guys instantly, then dwindle to 1-2 a month for the next 5 years like most replica items... HA.

As of today I'm not taking orders for custom fab until further notice. I'll keep standard items stocked when time allows. I signed a 50,000 piece per month contract for my military contractor. So, that will be taking most of my time for the next few months.

will definitely stay in touch.

So here is the thing everyone needs to understand, the 60s market suuuuuuuuuucks. You really have to love the 60 and really just want something for yourself but make a bunch for your MUD friends. Thats how I need to start looking at it.

That being said, I need one and I promised Seth Gold I was going to make one so that is my intent. Mine will definitely NOT be 3D printed but will instead be laser cut and CNC bent sheetmetal with some other niceties thrown in for good measure. BUT, although its in my pipeline, its not at the top. The 1FZ turbo kit is really only one of the projects, there are tons more :P

Finally got the shop lift finished... should make swapping the bodies much easier.

Dingo is good with a clean WY title in my name and registered for the next 2 years.

Andrea is headed to CT and I'll be back in CA in a few days.

Also, stopped in to my gasket makers shop here in WY and got the preliminary "D" pillar gasket made for the new CNC milled vent covers. I should have the first vent cover in about 2 weeks.

Great news on Dingo J! Safe travels for Andrea and You.

J- You have preliminary costs on the D-Pillar vents? Reassembling mine last night I noticed how badly they are cracked. Basically they are mcgyvered together with a combination of mud, paint, dust, spit and just being pasted together with the gasket and not removed for so long.

Should have a good Idea after we mill the first prototype pair. About 10 days and I'll know a price.

J, I saw something earlier about these mats helping with sound deadening. I've already put MLV in my 60 (it was still very noisy, but that might be from driving around without the dash installed. :) ....adding it to the doors and quarter panels. Does this stuff offer decent additional sound deadening? It looks like it lays down so well I might be able to fit it under my MLV.

Thanks,

K

K,

Other than the typical, Dynamat, FatMax, etc... I use the Thermozite heat/sound deadening jute under my carpets and vinyl.

Lizard skin works well too @NCFJ can speak more to it's qualities.

Great to see someone that will be making this part.

I hope to make the fender vents as well. But, one project at a time.

Here are the rough 3D views of the "D" vent. Still needs a bit of surfacing and contouring, but close.
