so the flat bearing had been in service for some time, with a diaphragm clutch.
the what i'm gathering is the correct bearing is going into service.

followup question,
how important are the clips that retain the throw out bearing hub to the clutch fork?
either they fell out or i didn't have them in place but they were not in place when i disassembled.

Flat is for three finger clutch

Rounded is for diaphragm clutch

The clips are all that pulls it away from the clutch fingers... and keeps it attached to the fork. How important is it that they stay connected?

I wouldn't assemble without them.

not surprised that jto would have sent the wrong bearing. but on a side note it worked just fine with the diaphragm pp, for several years...same with the lack of clips.
