I just want some 80 cup holders made in AMERIKKA:deadhorse:

Fun story. My grandfather was a amphibious tractor battalion leader in the south pacific in ww2. He always called them japs. I wrote a paper on ww2 on my grandfathers in elementary school, both were in ww2. One in Italy and one in the south pacific. Most of the information about the south pacific was obtained from my grandfather. Throughout the paper I referred to the Japanese as japs. Needless to say the teacher made a good bit of corrections and comments on that paper. Just one of many fond memories of my grandfather and the awesome ww2 stories he told.

I didn't call you anything, I corrected an error in a statement you made. Again, under NCLB, states made their individual standards, not the federal government.

For the record I have no problem with the general ideology of your rant, I just prefer it be accurate.
As far as "Jap" being short for Japanese, it came about in WW2 and is slang any way you cut it. Ask any WW2 veteran who fought in the south pacific. There is no doubt that it has a derogatory tone to it, even though the OP might not have intended it.
Personally I don't give a crap either way and I am the very last person to talk about political correctness, but lets not polish a turd and call it gold.
I was not suggesting that you called me anything. I simply said you could and it would not bother me and I hope all people can be that happy with themselves and their heritage.
George junior signed "no child left behind" which had huge affects on what my children we taught, mostly the f@@@@@g test that all students were expected to score proficient on twice a year. When schools had low average test score they were put on notice. So you can bet your Landcruiser every superintendent did what was needed to stay off that list. Good night.

RANT:
We have become so F*****g PC as a society that my 12 YO son saw a T-Shirt in a store depicting 9 faces of Star Wars Storm Troopers (all the same pic) with a different caption under each. (Sleepy, Happy, Sad, etc....) and his first comment to it was:
"That is SOOOO racist!"
WTF? Son, do you even understand what the term RACIST even MEANS?
Yeah, Dad. But it's racist.
No, you don't know what it means.
Yeah, I do...

And on it went until I finally gave up.

We have brainwashed our kids into thinking EVERYTHING is racist. I could say an apple is red, but that would be racist because it is an apple, not a red, especially since there are yellow apples, green apples, red apples, and then there are Honeycrisp, Red Delicious, Granny Smith,......... My God, how apples must hate oranges.

RANT OVER (until someone replies.....)

Amen bother! Thanks for posting!!!:beer:

Wtf is all this bull****? Really? Did all that really get posted in a "tech forum" I know that the 80 section can barely be considered tech in the past couple years, but wow.

Politics? In the TECH section? Goodness me, I believe I've got the vapors. How unseemly. Can we please discuss oil filters instead?

Worst part of it all, whatever title the OP used, it was still might have been a good, solid tech discussion with meaningful photos.

All right, why dun we focus in Toyota Japan made filter vs Toyota Thailand made filter!? ;)Should have used this as title line at the beginning! lazy and used abbreviation instead!! :bang:

@math true. Why do you think Toyota is shipping what clearly appears to be an inferior product?

Cost and profit!! And in general most of the crowd loves cheaper stuff. Ask how I know!! I am sure Cdan and Beno can relate too.

I'm not entirely certain it's inferior, but we're very new mechanics. Even though the Japanese one looks like a million bucks and the Thai one looks like crap, I'm not sure there's a huge difference. The Thai one has more fins, and therefore more surface area, and should flow well. Though it seems to be missing the check valve? Or whatever the little swirly thing on the Japanese one is. It's obvious that the Japanese one is nicer, though they may be equally functional. Perhaps someone (possibly you) with more experience can explain it - as mentioned, I'm pretty new.

And off to chat in 3-2-1..

So, does Toyota run the T filters in their new cars under warranty? Do they install them with oil changes at dealerships? Do they stand behind them the same as the J filters?

So, back to the originally scheduled program. Are you going to be importing these?

Yes if I am able to source the Japan made Toyota, TACTIC or Drive Joy version of 90915-20004 filter.

To get back on track for just a second before it blows up again since I ordered from Dubai, these with shipping (2 cases) to New Orleans was 16.44 a filter. https://partsouq.com/en/search/search?q=90915-20004

when did you ordered? Have you received them yet? My source from Dubai confirm that those 90915-20004 there are made in Thailand, in fact I have one in hand from there that is made in Thailand 3 months ago. You may know something that I don't.
