thanks guys :D

Hey any of you ever been out to cashmere/wenatchee/leavenworth WA area?
Wife was tentatively offered an awesome job there as a PA in a new medical facility...
She is also looking for jobs in the Portland area as well :)
I can work remotely so it is makes no dif to me. :)
If we move we would likelyrent our home we own here to cover the mortgage etc.

But **** those areas look to have bad ass outdoor ****e, like epic climbing and skiiing and offroading.
Anyone have any personal beta on the area?

Little off topic but just curious :D

Western Washington is a little rainy, but the outdoor stuff is rad here. Leavenworth has awesome climbing (Mountain Project: Climbing Leavenworth) and so does Index, which is just down the road (Mountain Project: Climbing Index Town Walls).

Plus, you would be about 2 hours closer to Squamish :bounce2::bounce2:

Do it man!

Yeha man the area looks awesome !@

Seems like my wife is also looking for gigs in Santa Barbara and north/ west LA ( silver lake, culver city westwood etc ) at Cedars-Sinai.

If you guys know any short commute areas in norther LA that is not quite in the city that would be awesome, up in the canyons would be cool too.
Any good trials around there in the forests?

Trying to fix our portland home so it can be rented out while we live up there.

s*** tons to do.

Looks like winch rebuild may have to wait :D

noticed now and then i am getting a regular timed downward flicker in my vacuum gauge, happens when warmed or cold, and it sometimes it does not happen?

Valve sticking or burning out?
I have not touched the valves since the new head went in, breaking in the engine like every one said.
Maybe valves are out of adjustment or where too tight?

Should i take it to the shop and have them show me how to adjust the valves and make sure everything is alright?

I have no idea what a burnt or sticking valve should look like... but i believe this is a symptom of this yeah?

definitely not a head gasket going right?
The told me NOT to retorque the head bolts and I have not.

Ewww!

Dunno on the vac thing. Your making me not want to put a guage in my 69 though!:grinpimp:

My 40 and I are really glad to be over 100 miles from the nearest freeway!!:steer:

:D

yeah LA is not ideal for me, santa barbara is not all that bad though, def not portland / oregon though.

But there are awesome jobs for her in cali, and since i can work anywhere it make sense. Keeping the house here though, gonna rent it out.

oy, will drop by the shop and see if i can have them go over how to adjust valves and how to look for problems etc.

thanks guys

Took the rig over to landcruiser nw and they show me how to adjust the valves etc.

Cool stuff!

A few were loose but nothing too tight.
exhaust 14 and intake 8 ish ( per the book i have and they have )

I noticed a little pitting / bump on my points, i bet the weird dip in the vacuum/hesitation is just that.
Will swap the points out soon and see if it goes away :)

The F135 intakes are supposed to be 10, btw, not that it makes much difference. I like the points swap idea if they are really pitted.

Definitely a three handed job...:)

Destin....hows the winch going? didnt look all that good in the last pic....

you may want to start a thread in the winch area about the tare down and rebuild?

Hey Johnny!

Ben slammed with work and house s***e.
I have to fix some s*** around the house so we can refinance our loan.
Did this last night and this morning ( installing exhaust hood for stove ).

Had to tear out the wall, add some stud supports, move some wiring, sheet rock / mud / sand / paint the wall.
Then hang the beast.

Need to wire the thing next and add the chimney sleeve thingy.

some photos, need to redo the shelf so it is not beneath the exhuast too
Looks liek the winch will be waiting a while oy!

When I did my vent hood I had a piece of stainless cut to go on the wall behind the stove, cost me like $60 and saved me patching the sheetrock ;) Just stuck it up with some mastic and the vent anchors secure it ...

It turned out pretty nice, just a thought unless you like patching ...

(Another old house sucker :))

**edit - looks like your holes will be covered by the sleeve**

After 1886 and 1956 I found out that a new house gives me more time in the garage.
Next house will be new in the style of an old one, best of both worlds and with low energy bills.
Still love the old one's.
