When I did my vent hood I had a piece of stainless cut to go on the wall behind the stove, cost me like $60 and saved me patching the sheetrock Just stuck it up with some mastic and the vent anchors secure it ...

It turned out pretty nice, just a thought unless you like patching ...

That honestly did not even occur to me, never had to install an exhaust hood before

next time.

After 1886 and 1956 I found out that a new house gives me more time in the garage.
Next house will be new in the style of an old one, best of both worlds and with low energy bills.
Still love the old one's.

Have a few more to finish up before the refinance, then we will rent it out.

Flying down to santa Barbara tomorrow, and will be looking around hoods there and west LA for a decent place to rent etc.

Santa Barbara seems way more chill than west LA, but we will see.
I guess the up side is the top will be off more often on the 40

I live in West LA and before this I lived in Santa Barbara for 4 years. I can't speak for everyone but let me know if you have any questions about either place--what parts of the cities to live in, etc.

SB is a bit of a small town after a while, not in the best sense, whereas you'll never run out of things to do or people to meet in WLA. On the other hand, SB is an awesome place--way less stressful and congested than LA, with a lot of things to do outdoors. I surfed like three times a week every winter for 4 years and I want to move back someday just for that. One thing I can tell you about LA is no matter what your interests, you probably won't like using your FJ as a daily driver

I've been kinda wanting to check out Portland, if it weren't for the job I'd suggest a house swap. haha.

Yeah i like santa monica / venice / westwood / hollywood areas, but I have not been there in forever. What areas do you dig?

Topanga canyon ( lower ) looks great as well.

La is not very friendly for the 40 huh?
I work remotely so i would not be driving it to work everyday , but rather for fun, weekend trips / beach and errands.

Alot of where e end up, Santa barbara or west la depends on where my wife finds a job, as mine does not depend much on location.

hehe yeah, bay area etc is also on the list, she was offered a job in foster city, which would allow us to live on skyline/ pescadero / santa cruz mountains etc...

Dunno what is gonna pan out right now haha..

I am in redwood city right next to foster city! Skyline,pescadero is my backyard! Killer back roads to tear up on the ducati! LA stands for lame ass town! The bay area has alot to offer,allthough I am jeolous of the oregon scenery and back woods trails...Come to the bay area, I have a hub cap waitng for you!!!

yeah I love the bay area, I lived there for 5 years or so.
Pescadero road and the area are AWESOME on the motorbike!

Wifey has the job there for sure.
But she is still waiting to hear back from santa barbara and west LA s***e.
I have to say santa barbara is pretty chill too.
But spendy as hell./

hehe i dunno, just arrived home lasat night

Need to change the points ( they ere getting a bit bumpy in a spot and i noticed some stumbling when a little cold hehe.

So checked out Santa Barbara, which as awesome, nice weather and really beautiful place.
Hollywood hills were ok as well, but the city it self was a bit crowded and smoggy the further south you went.

Pasadena was suuuper smoggy and bad in my opinion, lungs burned from the air, and s*** i used to smoke haha!

hopefully the wife fins a cool job in portland / sf / santa barbara/ or the holly wood hills, the rest is kinda too crowded and polluted for me

Hollywood hills would put me pretty close to Marks offroad for any 40 repairs though
