any luck with that? My short block now shows shipped, but I have not had a call or email about delivery. I got the rest of my stuff about 2 months ago. Apparently the short block arrived to them at the same time, you would think they would want that out of their way.
Did you order from Decatur? Mine was supposedly due to arrive in July/Aug/Sep/Oct and now mid-Nov. There was a shipping SNAFU. I'm not holding my breath.

yep, same time you did. i'm not pressing it since I have no space in my shop right now. I did have to send a half dozen emails to get my other parts before I sold the truck they were for.

Open it up and look at the part number tag on the block. It will tell you when it was manufactured.

From the part number label, it looks like it was "picked and pulled" on October 17, 2022. Manufacture would have most likely been within a week of that.

Glad you finally got it.

Curious, did it arrive strapped to a mini-pallet?
Regular pallet. Had another box strapped to the top of it that held my other parts. I live in the sticks so the 18-wheeler couldn’t go up my drive way which doubles as a county road. Anyway, I had it delivered to a buddy of mine with a tractor forklift and dragged it to my home.

Will do. Had to rush to get it into my garage and no time to open it up because we were rushing out the door for a camping trip.

I’ll post pictures once I get back. I can tell she is going to be über sexy.

Awesome news Pell! I'll leave the white s*** comments alone.

It isn’t cocaine; I tasted it.

I need to clean this thing up. Add it to the list.

Plastic residue? Or maybe some kind of dried-out protective coating? Didn't Beno or CDan mention something like that once? Someone asked how long a block would keep in their garage, and the answer was something close to forever. Looks like some kinda fuzz or hair in photo 2 on the right; nothing major, but gotta wonder how it got there...

I thought it was desiccant, perhaps a bag of it ripped open inside the box, but having desiccant inside a cardboard box is futile. Besides, I didn’t find any trace of a ripped open bag of anything.

As for long-term storage, the block needs to be kept in an environment conducive to safe keeping. A dry and clean place. I’d like a sealed case with desiccants for my short block until I use it.
I need to get it on a stand and clean her up.

Or, you could put it under my Christmas tree.
I have been a good boy (sorta).

I think it was Beno who said to watch for metal shavings on new blocks, too.

When I opened my short block, I found a couple bags of dessicant inside the bag with the block. One had broken open and the silica beads had covered much of the block, including the crank, and passageways. I was not happy.
I spent the better part of a day cleaning the block and blowing out every oil and water passage with compressed air. I went ahead with the rebuild and 20k miles later, all is good.

Negative.

Not me.

I’ve never seen any metal shavings/material in OEM cast/machined assemblies; I’ve seen a lot.
Good to hear; that post—by whomever—shook my faith.

I think MUD is single handedly keeping the 1FZ-FE short block in production at this point :D
Have you SEEN how the middle eastern guys blow up engines with impunity?
