I input the short block part number and it gave me local dealers who are participating. I chose this Fred Anderson based on proximity to me.
What in the heck is going on with me? I’m having lots of internet troublesdouble check your part number that one linked isn't correct
You should send MR @bhsdriller a thank you beverage. I am not sure how easy it is to return a short block, much less three of them. The shipping charges alone . . . .
How about I drink to him instead? Cheers! You should send MR @bhsdriller a thank you beverage. I am not sure how easy it is to return a short block, much less three of them. The shipping charges alone . . . .
Modern Toyota in Boone, NC called me and told me they won’t sell these short blocks unless the customer is actively getting their Land Cruiser serviced there. This is due to too high of liabilities and special orders aren’t returnable as you stated.Special ordered parts are not returnable to Toyota.
So one shortblock and an oil change please.Modern Toyota in Boone, NC called me and told me they won’t sell these short blocks unless the customer is actively getting their Land Cruiser serviced there. This is due to too high of liabilities and special orders aren’t returnable as you stated.
The gentleman I spoke to, expressed his regret, “because this would’ve been a nice sale”.

Thanks for the breakdown, of course it’s a trivial method of doing business. Two years ago I bought a short block for $2800 delivered. After speaking to those guys, they want NOTHING to do with these sales events. Not worth the hassle for the menial returns.Funny. "Nice sale" on paper.
This is a co-op program. Southeast Toyota reimburses dealers who sell the part for below cost only up to the actual cost of the part that a dealer has to pay to buy it from the distributor (SET). They will actually make no money on these sales. These sales are used by Southeast Toyota to show big Toyota (TMNA) that they sell tons of parts. And the dealership principals get kickbacks from Southeast Toyota in the form of vacations, etc.
It's just a numbers game.
Sounds fishy to me.Modern Toyota in Boone, NC called me and told me they won’t sell these short blocks unless the customer is actively getting their Land Cruiser serviced there. This is due to too high of liabilities and special orders aren’t returnable as you stated.
