@65swb45 Hey Mark,
Thanks for taking my call this afternoon! I really appreciate your help with my ConFerr rack, your suggestion of using 3/4"x1-1/2"x60" tubing will definitely fix the installation dilemma on my 40.
Thanks Again,
Mike

You are welcome Mike.

Dave

I took a few minutes to clean up the hardware and the boot. Gas pedal is done

The old carb core is coming along nicely as well. There were a lot of missing parts too. There was no jet in the power valve, which would have made for a very rich ride!

That's probably why I found it in the box of spare parts the previous owner gave me with the rig. If he would have just taken it to you to be fixed he wouldn't have had to buy another carb. ;)

I found your rocker core Dave. It DOES look as if 3/4 and 9/10 need to be swapped. I will take this one home anyways and see what happens tomorrow. I'm tired.

I remember now that J said it came in pieces and he put it back together as best as he could that might be why it's out of sync.

Ahhh! Now that makes sense. Home. Goodnight.

Still hurts but at least I didn't loose the nail View attachment 1238828

Your build is looking really nice. This past summer, I was standing on my head in our storage barn disassembling an e brake donor. I slipped off of the wrench and felt something warm coming down my wrist. I half expected to see my thumb laying on the floor but ended up having the pad spring go into my thumb above my nail, through the top and nail bed, exiting out the tip. I usually don't get queasy but had to stop more than once to regain composure as I made my way to the house to clean it out. I didn't lose the nail but had a split thumbnail for the better part of 6 months. The scar is still visible through the nail. I hope yours heals up quickly.

Thanks bud and ouch!

Dave, I went to Loews to get a couple of small things. Nobody told me that it had become as dangerous as going to Costco! $900 later, I have a bottle of Krud Kutter...and one of these:

Nothing like door to door service with an FJ45

Well, I tried a couple or rounds of Krud spray on those brackets last night. Nothing. This morning I thought I remembered that I might still have a little something left over from a bygone era. Nothing as lethal as my buddy's OTC bottle of Napalm from the early '60s, but still a lot more potent than this namby-pamby stuff.

I went digging and found it. Not looking so hot (been sitting for at least 15 years) Largely evaporated. But what the heck. Tossed one of my vacuum shifter plates in the pan with Dave's brackets, tossed a little of this stuff on. Smeared it around with a qtip.

By the time I went to grab the camera and got back with it, it was already working!:bounce:

I will say the thicker the paint the harder it is to remove with the Krud but it does work. It works best on plated parts. I leave it on for about 10 minutes the use a aggressive plastic brush like my wife's plate brush. Yeah, I got in trouble for that.
