Let's nail this down. Is there anybody available on Saturday, mid-afternoon, say around 1:30 or 2:00? I have a little program to give at 11:00, but I should be able to excape by 12:30 or 1:00.

Nope, in ABQ. I won't be in Phoenix until March when I pass through on my way to Baja.

BTW Mark, nice 2F tee-shirt. Make a 3FE, please. :grinpimp:

Hey Jon -

I can be there Saturday at 1:30-ish. How many guys will you need?

Sounds good. 1:30 it is. Diesel Dan agrees that the body is a four person job.

Unfortunately, work decided to rotate Saturdays for us once a month. This one is mine. If I can get out of there by 2:00 (it just depends when the guys come back in), I can swing by after if you still need the help.

Remove the rear bumper and finish welding. I needed to add an antenna mount, and do some misc welding. Remove the sliders. The sliders and the bumper are in the 4Runner for a trip to Kaehr on Monday after work for black powder.

Done deal. Check that off the list.

I'm ready for you boys.

  • Radiator is out.
  • All body mounts are out.
  • Steering gearbox is off.
  • Brake lines are disconnected at the front.
  • Battery is out.
  • Fuel lines are disconnected.
  • Engine mounts are unbolted.

Rock and roll. See ya at 1:30.

Sounds good Jon. Dan and I will be there. Will three of us be enough or is there anyone else coming over?

Reduction!

Many thanks to Diesel Dan, Evan, and Greg.

T'was fun. I came home and did a little bit more bodywork. I'd rather lift heavy things and use hoists than deal with more 18GA. ;)

Your bumpstops are cleaned. I can try to drop them by on Monday perhaps, on my way to the airport. Unloading the engine hoist was much easier than I had anticipated. Good to know I can unload it myself now.

Dan

That was fun. I never helped dismantle anything down to the bare frame before.

I'm looking forward to seeing the frame and tub come back good as new...

and then on to the trail!

It will probably go back together nearly as fast as it was broken down. Maybe quicker, because it's pretty motivating to see it all go back together.

When I'm getting to that stage of a project, I really do lose sleep because I'm so excited to get it back together.

Dan

It's nice to see this one major hurdle over with. For the most part, I'm taking the day off Da'40. I'll work on a few little things, but today is a vacation day.

Thanks again guys.

Dan, Monday is a late day for me. I'll probably be at work until 8pm. You can drop them off at the garden, or on the door step like last time. Thanks!

The bumpstops are on your welcome mat.

Yippee. Tub is at Kaehr. Frame will be delivered tomorrow.
