actually the factory fat body kit looks good on the 70 series but then that becomes personal taste.

looking forward to the dash and interior pics.

This is the cover over the bed I like, though I think I would have done it in black.

So, I like the idea of the full 7' bed, but what does that put the truck at for overall length nose to tip? Just dreaming of a new project in my garage... I'm already looking for a reasonable 62 series. Just what I need, another project. I just need to quit my government job and volunteer my services to Profit's.

i did that top in Grey to match the interior.
i have done the black in the past and it looks alright but i wanted the "high end" apearence instead of the 'out back , wheeling' look.
that is a modified 45 series box mounted on a 97 HZJ75 chassis with custom 6 point roll cage in the box covered with marine grade vinyl. the windows each rolled up seperately and each window had a industrial grade velcro screen that snapped into place.
i really did love that particular truck.
glad to see it still apeals to some.
cheers (and thanks for posting it up)

The problem with the 80 series is that the frame is very wide in the rear. There is not a lot of room to run an offset rim to narrow the stance. You could run flares like Crushers suggested but it still might look a little funny.

I think that the standard skinny 70 series stance looks wrong, and that a wider stance from 80 series diffs would greatly improve the way it looks, without running extra offset on the rims to get that width.

The rear wheels already sit further in from the guards compared to the front, which doesn't look good to me.

Not sure why you would want to narrow the stance that 80 series diffs would give it.

looks good John, missed you at cm this year

If the make rear factory flares for the ute tub and swb and mwb , it really peeves me of the if you order a top of the range troopy u get no flares and split rim if u order the top of the range ute u get the front flares and alloys why can't the troopy come with alloys and flares to cover the wider stance

What are or have you done in regards to the steering column? Did you have to source a used one from overseas? The factory dash is available through Toyota? What about all the under dash electronics?

You said you wanted to run 35" tires? If using a 60/62 Series frame and running gear, which sounds like the easiest option, could a spring over axle lift make room for the tires and as an added benefit move the springs and u-bolts above the axles?

If you do offer a body mount kit in the future any idea on what the cost will be?

Keep up the great work. This is going to be one awesome truck.

factory dash is available from Toyota.
factory wiring is available but not cheap at all.
steering column is available from Toyota but once again not cheap. it will be interesting to see if an adapter will be needed from the 7* series column to the 6* series box due to the length.

i am interested in the interior pics and the engine compartment pics / fit. location of the shifters, rad fitment, fan clearence, front fender mounts ... basicly, it would be nice to do a walk around / roll under of the finished rig and a price on "drive away with 1HZ/H55F and full interior installed".

So, will you be using a 7* series column? Can used ones can be sourced? I would think mating the 79 series column to the 60/62 series streering box wouldn't be that big of an issue other than maybe needing one or two steering joints and a longer/shorter piece of steering shaft.

I wonder if the 60/62 series wiring could be used with the 79 series body? If one had a complete 60/62 series as a donor vehicle. I wonder if one more so than the other, 60 vs 62, be more adaptable? The electrical would be the biggest concern if I were doing this build.

I just saw some interior pictures of the 79 Series the 80 Series steering column looks similar. I wonder how close a steering column out of an 80 Series would fit?

IIRC, the gear box, yoke, and intermediate shaft are the same. The column from the firewall up might/could be different. I don't know.

I will be following your build very closely as I just plunked down some cash for one of these bodies to go onto a 60/62 series frame.

I want an auto (for now anyway) and will more than likely be going with a FJ62 and the A440 transmission for the running gear. I think the shifter in the 62 series looks like an after thought. I like the looks of the shifter in the early 80 series with the A440 much better. I assume this would be a direct swap? Same transmission and transfer case in a 62 series as in the 1991-92 FJ80 series correct?

I'm going to see if I can use the seats and steering column out of the 62 series and a shifter center console out of an early 80 series... Thoughts???

Proffitt's was very helpful when I secured one of the bodies. They told me that they would eventually be offering a kit that would include: windshield wiper motor and linkage, heater blower, complete dash (everything), steering column, seats etc... in the future. Would be much easier than trying to source individual parts. He gave me an estimated price, but I'm not sure they would want me posting it just yet.
