This project has been a long time in the making. I have put it off but my up coming trip to Moab pushed me to complete it.
I never liked the placement of the fridge/freezers on the top of the rear storage boxes with the slide out drawers. If you have a lifted truck you have to jump up on your tailgate to get to the content in the fridge. I understand if this is your only option, but I went a different route.
I wanted my ARB fridge to sit as low as possible to provide easy access to its contents. I found that the passenger side second row seat when removed provided a perfect space for the fridge. I wanted the stand to be removable but be integrated into my rear storage system. The back side of the stand is bolted to the back of the drawers using a 1 inch section of thick aluminum angle. I then fabed up some brackets to bolt the front of the stand to the factory seat mounts. I used ¾ inch pine for the stand itself. This provided a VERY solid foundation for the fridge and will never move.
I bolted the same thick 1 inch aluminum angle at 6" long to the front and back sides of the stand for the turn buckles to attach to. I then added carpet to match rear storage drawers a as well as some aluminum angle to the sides to finish it off.
I can now fold the drivers’ side second row seat down and my twin size air mattress will fit perfectly next to the fridge.
