If we did a group site, who else would be bringing a camper/trailer? And would anyone know of a pop-up I could borrow for the family? The tent spooks Addie a little too much to make camping with the family much fun. :(

I'll happily wheel with anyone as long as they don't drive a Volvo or a Subaru! Can't stand those. (With the exception of a few of course, right Leon?)

Dang, I'm taking a beating in this thread...

I am up for either Cruise Moab or a CLC club trip. If we chose the CLC trip, I think it is worth looking at other major events at Moab (jeep week, subaru week, delorean day, etc) and avoiding those dates. It's not a brand loyalty/pride thing so much as a not wanting to wait in line deal with crowds thing. I don't mind being in a larger group at CM, but I just don't like the idea of being stuck behind a group of 25 (insert group name here) trucks for hours on end, or dealing with very crowded campgrounds.

A few times we might chose to avoid:
3/28-4/5 easter jeep safari
4/16-4/19 RMAR Moab Rendezvous
4/28-5/3 cruise moab
5/13-5/16 rally on the rocks

I hope to bring my pop-up camper. I would offer you space, but my friend Cameron is planning on joining in for this trip. If it changes, I will let you know. I don't know of anyone who may have a spare to lend out, but I once rented one out of Albuquerque (dealers sometimes rent pop-ups cheaply to people who are considering buying one), so renting might be possible.

I hope you guys can make it!

It has been alluded to here so I'll just say that we are planning our annual family spring break trip again for this year. It is a family friendly run and will be sometime the week of March 21-29 in SE Utah. It will be a multi day expo type trip, no base camp. I will post up a thread soon.

If we do a CLC trip, I think May or June might be the best bet. I'll be taking my PCS leave around the 10th of June from here for my move to NY. I'd be game to try a trip around then. Or whenver really. I'm still shooting for CM to have the 80 done by, or rather a couple weeks before since I want to get a trip to OCG in before then.

So what dates would everyone propose for a CLC trip?

I still like the idea of going to the Cruise Moab event. I am good to go for different dates if everyone would rather do a CLC trip. Here are some possibilities if we want to avoid other major events:

weekend of April 11/12
weekend of April 25/26
April 28-May 3 (cruise moab)
weekend of May 9/10
June- I don't see any major off-road events, so June may be all OK.

I'd be happy to do either. Guess it really comes down to who would want to go if we weren't doing Cruise Moab. ???

I still like the idea of doing Cruise Moab since it will be my first time to the area and it would be nice to go with folks who know the area well. ???

I think Cruise Moab may be best because we can travel together for some trails, and still have the ability to run harder/easier/different trails and still have other trucks/help along the way.

Sounds good. Probably not enough interest for a group site from the sounds of it. I don't think we'd have any issues finding a camping spot down on Kane Creek in one of those areas, or off 313 in that area. The sites along the river (HWY 128 I think) seem to fill up fast, and are kind of small and cramped, especially for those that have campers/trailers.

What trails are on your wishlists? I'll probably try to get in on the Fins night run, Hells Revenge (its like a roller coaster!), and cliffhanger.

I am interested in:
Fins and Things
Hell's revenge
San Rafael Swell
any of the more moderate trails

Basically, I want to run Fins for sure. I want to run something that will push me and my truck a bit: hell's revenge or San Rafael, and I want to run something moderate: maybe something scenic.

San Rafael sounds like fun. But I'm not entirely sure what the trail is like, but it is an overnight trip. I'll have to do a little research on it.

I think hells revenge is a bit more fun than fins and things. But they are both a good starter for the area.

While I feel that it would be criminal to go to moab and not see golden spike and poison spider, I don't think the Hundy could make it :( hands down the two best trails we ran, though hells revenge was very close. I thought fins and things was a snoozer, but that's just me. We dropped out half way.

I agree on Fins and Things was a bit boring as well. The climbs and descents on Hells really make it fun!

I have a feeling this was aimed at me and my non-conformist vehicle. Lol. I probably won't be attending, so feel free to go to cruise moab without worrying about me not being able to attend. Events don't allow beer on the trails anyway, and that's just lame.

I saw this San Rafael video, and I think it looks like a great time:

Travis, the 100 looks like he is doing great on the obstacles here.

A wheelin' 100 series and the Grateful Dead! Great video. :-) I really enjoyed it when we did the swell a few years back.

Yeah, not really wanting to push the 100 too hard now that I've got the 60. REALLLLLLLY need to get that 60 going.....

While you are usually first in my thoughts Sweet Luke :D, I was really talking about everyone. Seemed to be some "just CLC during the off season" talk there for a while.

Really, I'll just be happy to get some time off work for wheelin' no matter when we decide to go.

I kinda had this in the back of my head. I don't think anyone else has a nonconforming vehicle that they want to bring, do they?

??I didn't realize that you had been to Moab before. Did you run the swell in the 100?

:clap:Got to get the 60 going pretty quick, it's probably a good idea to get a few runs in if you are going to try to take it to Moab.

Sweet Luke :D

Kinda distrubing...
