Registration will probably come out soon and I was wondering who was up for the trip?

Mr. Moose mentioned doing some planning so we could camp / wheel together and I really like that idea.

I'm not 100% in yet (have to request personal days from work and see if Grandma can watch the kiddos).

Though we might get together to plan our attack once registration / schedule is posted.

I am going to make every effort to go this year. The wife and kid would like to go, also...but we need to see how that will work out with their school schedules.

I could be wrong, but I thought I saw a schedule posted the other day. I am pretty sure there was no registration yet.

I have more leave days than I know what to do with. Obviously I'm in for this. I'll probably go for the week. Group campsite would be a great idea too, instead of the congested sites at Slick Rock.

This sounds like a good thing to discuss over a couple beers!

Cruise Moab 2015: Tues. April 28 - Sat. May 2, 2015.

I'd like to think I'll make it at least for a long weekend. An Alternative is to schedule something during Spring Break for those on a school Calendar.

I'm pretty sure we've got something else in Utah planned for Spring Break. :D

.....besides, Spring Break usually coincides with "Heap Weak" ;)

Thinking I'll try to drive out the 29th after work (getting me to Moab around 10:00ish) and wheel the 30th, 1st and 2nd. I'll put in for personal days as soon as school starts up again.

FYI, They start accepting resrevations for the BLM group campsites on January 5th: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/moab/recreation/campgrounds/group_campgrounds.html

I'm not sure what campsite might be best, but a group site would be a good solution, especially if a few of us end up going. $4/person/night, but you must pay for the minimum number of people the campsite holds(15X$4=60/NIGHT), even if there are not that many people.

I think the normal rate is like $10 a night anyways for a regular site, so I group site would be worth it. We stayed at The Ledge camping area on Kane Creek. It was a two sight ring, but you could have more vehicles on the sight (we had a lot of rigs and trailers). It's not on google earth, but theres a group site there on the east side of the road. I know theres some off 313 that would be fine too. My only requirement is having enough room for both trucks and a trailer. Attached is grab from google earth where we stayed last time.

Obvioulsy, alot depends on the size of the group. A decent head count would be best for trying to figure out where to stay.
If theres not a lot of people and we don't do a group site, I'll be down on Kane Creek. Atleast I won't be trailering the switchback every day this time

I will talk to the wife and see if she would like to go. I would also like to try and do chinaman's on Easter again. I think it would be a good shake down trail right before Moab.

That was my shakedown for Moab last year! Looks like it might be again this year as well lol

Brian, I remember you almost shook that 80 right over onto its top at chinamans last year :D

I get that there's comradery and all the festivities at Cruise Moab, but I still have to believe it's going to be way to crowded out there at that time. As long as the waits were in late September, I can't imagine what it's like at an event. I say go as a CLC group off season.

I went Cruise Moab a couple of years ago and the trials were not all that crowded. However the Slickrock campground was very crowded and I would want to stay there again.

Part of the fun is seeing all the nice cruisers. Still don't understand why people take their beautiful restored 45s on trails to pinstripe em though. I think Pops meant to say he WOULDN'T want to stay at Slick Rock. I wouldn't either. Mad house. Definitely BLM site for me.

Trails weren't too crowded honestly. Hells and Fins had tours that go on them, but they travel faster than us and its not a huge deal. The only drawback is some of the group sizes and the guys that are rather green with experience and hump the ledges repeatedly.

I'm assuming you'd bring the Toy? It's an all Toy event unfortunately. I'll go a weekend early though if you want to take the Jeep though!

I honestly don't think the Jeep will be ready by then. The Toyota wouldn't like Moab very much- the wheel travel on its IFS front is miserably bad, and I gigure wheeling something with no wheel travel must be difficult and spooky out there.

Funny how the Toyota guys don't allow Jeeps, you can bring whatever you want to Easter Jeep Safari...

What's really funny about that picture is I originally put "Toyota snobs", but I changed it to "Toyota guys" to be less offensive. Lol.

I love setting a "trip goal"- it really helps to keep you motivated. Even if you don't make it, you'll get more done. But Travis, you're going to have to put some sort of super quiet exhaust system on your 60, and never open the hood... All those Chevy parts will get you ousted from the group.

Well I think they used to allow others there but it ended up being to many pissing matches. I will have to look into it. I have only had problems with jeeps hating on the toyota and no toyotas having a problem with my jeep. Your Tacoma would do fine. A few went with the fj's in October and they were new stock ones with probably only sliders and skids. They made it up hells gate better then some fj's did.
