??I didn't realize that you had been to Moab before. Did you run the swell in the 100?

It's a ways away from Moab.

:clap:Got to get the 60 going pretty quick, it's probably a good idea to get a few runs in if you are going to try to take it to Moab.

AGREED!!!!

Kinda distrubing...

Mission accomplished!!!

So, Who is in for sure?

If you are in (or later, when you decide that you are going), where do you plan to camp?

I am leaning towards just camping at slickrock campground, since having showers and being able to have a beer or 2 at the night events and walk back to my trailer sounds pretty good. They have cabins and tent camping, too: slickrock.

UPDATE: I think i'm going to follow Brian's lead/advice and camp out at Cane Creek rd. I read some pretty mixed reviews of slickrock campground, and I'm not that crazy about camping so close to a highway.

I'm going. I'll be camping off Kane Creek Rd. Slickrock was packed last year and it's kind of cramped. Plus, with having 2 trucks and a trailer, its easier to park all my vehicles there. I'm fine with a shower bag and just dropping a couple dollars at the aquatic center for a real shower. The view is simply amazing at night when your out of town.

Is the registration up yet?

I probably won't go as I am going to do a visit back home with my old man in the hospital and i am also trying to get some work on the jeep done.
I know some of you guys said fins and things was pretty boring but I thought it was a very fun trail and would do that again if I went. My jeep buggy friends say its one of there favorites as well and they do it every time they go. I wasn't used to any steep ledges or climbs when I went so it was very challenging to me. Here are a couple of the steepest spots from when I went.

Ah yes. That second picture is the only reason I'd go back for Fins N Things. I looked like a fool going up it last year. Just couldn't traction. Locked F/R. I finally made it. And then half hour later I realized I didn't have the CDL on. Stupid me.

Cliffhanger is a blast. We ran it in September in the late afternoon and watched the sunset from the end. It's a great trail, with enough variety and difficulty for everyone. Definitely not stocker friendly for those wondering. The entrance/exit is a beast with a steep exit climb and a couple ledges right before that.

The obstacle that its named after is kind of funny. One would think you'd be tipped toward the edge. You're not. It puts you into the cliff face, which doesn't make it so bad. Much tamer than No Left Turn on Rusty Nail. I about sh*t myself looking down drop off.

So now that registration is open, what is everyone going to register for trail selections and what days? I'd be nice to get a trail or two in with those that are attending. I'm ready to register whenever. Only trail I really want to get in on is Golden Spike. Probably my Saturday run before pack out on Sunday.

I don't have it all figured out yet. I updated my post above, and I think that I will try to camp in the same area as you. I'm planning on heading up early on Wednesday the 29th.

I would like to run:

DAY 1: fins and things...Thinking this sounds like a good intro to Moab wheeling.
DAY 2 or 3: Hell's Revenge (maybe friday, with Slee?)...I want to run the area classic.
DAY 2 or 3: kane creek canyon, poison spider mesa, Porcupine Rim...or maybe something else "moderate". I don't think I'm in for golden spike:eek:

I finally got around to signing up for TLCA two weeks ago. They say I should get my member info tomorrow or friday, so I can't register till I have my number.

Just type in 6 numbers for registration if you don't have your TLCA card. They cross reference registrations with TLCA. That's what I had to do last year.

I'll run Hells whichever day you decide. It's a good run and lots of fun. Kane Creek is a good option. Tons of fun when your running through the creek bed. Trail head is right where I plan to camp as well.

You will have lots of pinstripes after Kane Creek. Just a heads up. My CB antenna also took a massive beating through the cottonwoods.

OK. I think my list looks like this:

Thursday:
1.Fins&things
2.Kane Creek
3. flat iron mesa

Friday:
1.Hells revenge
2. Fins &things
3. Wipeout hill

Saturday:
1. kane creek
2. hells revenge
3. flat iron mesa

I hope I can keep the pinstriping to a minimum, but I suspect that kane creek will be my favorite of the bunch.

I don't know if Justin gets on here much, but I wonder what he is doing for camping and wheeling. Looks like Redline is leading behind the rocks on Thursday. Also, We have others interested in the trip, but if it was posted up here, I missed it. I'm looking forward to running at least a trail or 2 with Brian and any other CLC'rs.

Andrew,

You don't need the TLCA number to register and I wouldn't wait too long, we will send out friendly reminders to everyone who does not have a current TLCA number that we will need to verify their status prior to guaranteeing their trail spot. You can type "pending" or 99999 in the meantime, but it's much easier for us when you already have that number. This is a TLCA Sanctioned event, so membership is required in this case. On a positive note, there are some great things coming for Toyota Trails and TLCA this year. We are doing some great things and the $35 membership fee for the printed version of Toyota Trails will be well worth the cost of membership.

Hopefully some of the others will chime in. I know Travis was interested, but I haven't seen him post in a bit. El Presidente must be busy...

I'll plan on Hell's for Friday. Thinking it'll be Cliffhanger, Hells, and Golden Spike for me as first choices Thurs-Sat.

Thanks, Stan!

I got my TLCA membership info in the mail today, so I'm good to go.

Unless any other CLC'ers chime in soon and want to run some different trails together, I'm going to go ahead and register for the trails I listed above tonight.

Man, one person or another (currently the two littlest) in this house has been sick over the last few weeks. Got over mine last weekend.

Doesn't look like Moab will be in the cards for me this year. Would love to go, but too many things holding me back. Mainly just want to get the 60 going. I know I'm going to miss out on some great times and I'll have to live vicariously through you guys when it's story time around the campfire sometime this summer.

Have fun and be safe.

I am officially registered.

Nice! You've got a good list of trail choices there. Fins is a MUST do, IMO. There are some steep climbs and descents on all of those trails that will get your attention for sure, especially the optional line stuff.

Poison Spider is another of my favorites and I'd recommend adding that to the list if you can. The view from the v-notch is pretty awesome.
