From here things got a little more busy, our trail leader :whoops: the big rock at the top of Golden Stairs. Something critical looks like it's not right? We were able to Fred Flintstone steer it off of the trail and start spotting everyone up the stairs.

Calls were made to camp, once parts were confirmed in route, we abandoned Robbie in place. Micheal became leader and we continued on.

That setup only lasted around the corner to Body Snatcher, where Larry in his FJC popped a rear diff. The group split again, Micheal continued with the main group and some of us pulled the rear drive shaft out of the FJC and helped him limp out, lead by Rob.

 What software are you using?

Mac GPS Pro, and I have USGS and USFS maps for AZ and UT. The computer is my old work laptop, vintage 2004; Powerbook G4 at 1.5GHz, 2Gb RAM, new 250G HD (and I just found out they don't make SSDs for this model...).

I've used my handheld Garmin etrex Legend to make the track log and then transferred the data to the Mac. Funny thing is that the receiver lost signal a few times, and at one of those breaks, the software determined that I was traveling at 250mph :grinpimp: :hillbilly:

I haven't figured out yet how to mount the Mac in the truck for live tracking, I'm wondering if I should just simply mount it to the top of the console between the seats.

That steering box is an issue....I have heard of a few doing that. Even thought about trying to pick up a spare to leave in the truck...

It's only an issue if you wheel.;p The ones that I have heard of broken, were ether in an accident in the past or were wheeled hard for years and hit something big/hard. Bigger lifts make it more likely, but I'm not overly worried about breaking one, it's been a rare occurrence.

Robbie had just inspected his for twist and it looked good. There were two old, rust filled cracks that greatly weakened it. I may look into a dye crack check setup to detect this type of failure. I wouldn't carry a spare box, if I were that worried about it, would just upgrade to the 105 series sector shaft and pitman arm.

Okay, I'm slacking.
So, here's some more.
The climb up the old highway to Comb Ridge.
The overlook pics are always disappointing. I find adding something in the foreground helps convey the depth.
Here's a nice outcropping looking down the ridge and a bonsai, about 12" tall eking out a like on the edge.
