Kurt(Cruiser Outfitters) was our trail leader for Hells Revenge and let us know that Hells Gate, The Hot Tub, and the Escalator were not to be ran on our group run because the idiot(my words) who filed the permit didnt specifically list it as part of the run, so we had to by-pass them. Well I talked Kurt into letting me just put my truck in the Hot Tub for "picture taking purposes only". I dont know about actually doing it though. Slow and crawl is o.k. with me, up or down, but getting lined up and then backing up and hammering it to get momentum is something else. Any of you guys ever did it? Hells Gate and the Escalator "looked" pretty easy to me though.

Where is the video on the Hottub?:hhmm: How about pictures of you coming out?

I have seen rigs flip in that tub - extended cab chevy kinda rigs

I was pushing hard enough to break the rules of the guided run just by going in there. I didnt want to get Kurt in trouble for allowing me to do it, or piss him off for not listening. So I started up it, took some pics, squealed my tires a little for show, and backed out.

I hope we never see pictures of Shannon coming out.:flipoff2:

I agree that it would be painful/disturbing, but at least we would have closure/confirmation on the subject.:o:eek:

:lol::lol::lol:

Did some playing with the tracks, added some mileage totals. This is just what was tracked, some short runs (to dinner, gas, visitor centers, etc) weren't tracked. I didn't compile elevation data for most runs, so the totals would be slightly higher if I did.

Saturday was the drive to Blanding with some Ruin play: 344.99 Road and 24.68 Dirt.

Sunday was Texas Flat/Comb Ridge exploring: 32.73 Road and 51.3 Dirt.

Monday was The long way through Beef Basin: 107.18 Road and 63.1 Dirt.

Tuesday was Hart/Lavender Canyon exploring: 73.78 Road and 47.47 Dirt.

Wednesday was Tech and Rim overlooks: 174.33 Road and 12.69 Dirt.

Thursday Was Spike: 19.52 Road and 20.23 Dirt.

Friday was Behind the Rocks area: 26.48 Road and 35.24 Dirt.

Saturday was White Rim: 55.73 Road and 87.9 Dirt.

Sunday was the drive home: 478.78 Road.

Totals 1313.52 Road and 313.61 Dirt, for a grand total of 1657.13 miles.:hillbilly::steer:

Google maps shows the travel from Blanding to Moab as 74.7 mi – about 1 hour 18 mins. Our travel time was ~4 days and 562.27 miles, so we aren't the most efficient travelers?:hillbilly:

We talked about Area BFE constantly getting whacked with weather and at the same time being nice at the hotel. Ran a elevation profile from the Bowen to BFE, about 1650' difference.

Salt Creek vistas... The expanse is difficult to capture; so is the effect of pure awe as you come to the edge. Driving the spur trail, you see nothing but the trail and the pinion and juniper trees, and suddenly the trail stops, and you step to the dropoff... and then a little telephoto play, with arches and mountains...

Needles... cruising after descending to Bobby's hole... neat color layers in this telephoto, with close greens, near rocks, and far mountains... and sometimes it seems that the rocks grudgingly permit passage of the weary traveler...

Flowers make a lavender sheen in the meadow next to Indian Creek, as seen from Hwy 211 on our way to check out Hart's Draw ... living close to the edge of Comb's Ridge (50mm, f1.8; probably should have closed the lens a bit) ... trying to hold on to the sky on the eastern shelf of Lavender Canyon...
