Other things about the trip,

Sliders would have been nice. There were some obstacles that I had to bypass.

The front bumper came home intact so I will have to save up for one instead of going for instant gratification. :D

What happended? Going to fast up that bump?

Mostly new equipment learning curve, after some tuning, tire, air bag pressures, etc it went much better. After following it for 50 miles offroad, if I were to build one it would be lower with good skids, allowing it to slide over the rocks. Also it would be wider, closer to the track of the truck, it is a pain to spot, get the truck tires up on the rocks and the narrower trailer falls into the holes. Making it slightly wider and lower would make it much more stable and it would follow the truck's track much better.

slap some wide spacers on that trailer!

2 cents

Beautiful pics!!!! The trailer turn over  now that's a nice setup BTW:cheers: red rocks are amazing I can't get over it, sept. I should be heading to those parts!!

I thought I would voice my opion about the Adventure trailer. It is an awsome piece of engineering. It looks and runs awsome. As for myself I would never travel with a trailer when offroad. I can barley keep two wheels on the ground let alone 6. In Drews(BCFJC) case he takes long trail runs, long road trips and carries his awsome dog. He just does not have enough cargo space. He took the trailer everywhere with just one incident. He is brave at the cost of 7K plus to drive as hard as he does. I just dont think offroading should incorporate trailers except for certain expedition style runs.
It can really compound a problem on the trail and could help lead to more serious injuries.

Awsome

We left the group at the rim and headed down ourselves, thus saving a couple of hours and had time to play on Fins and adjust my steep-o-meter. Rob's favorite thing...

Pics of you and rob and carl look awsome. Sorry I had to miss the last couple of days.

Ross, we took it slow on Poison Spider; we came out to blacktop around 4pm. I think you would have liked that trail...

Oh FUDGE!!!!!!!

That would have been plenty of time!

In talking to people on Friday night I was told to expect a much longer day if the weather was bad. I guess that is what I get to talking to people I don't know.

Glad I had a great day anyway, bummed I missed a great trail though. Hannah has been busting my b@#lls for missing it.

Kevin,
I want to hear about the trails you ran. I dont want to miss anything. Howd Rob do? Im his wing man.

Matt, did you get on a run on Thursday. You are lucky you didn't run porcupine with us. Great trail but not a good group run. To many poorly prepared trucks and drivers on a long shelf road. We ended up strapping two trucks in the first 200 yards. Took us 4 hours to run all the way in, we bugged out at lunch and were down the mountian in a little more that an hour. Good thing, I heard one of the truck broke down on the way out.
I hope you got to do something fun, if not you got a good taste of Moab and there is always next year.

next day was the offical Fins run. Two FJC's from Tall Corn Cruisers of Iowa were running in front, both set up nicely, the blue was running stock Dunlops and did great on the slickrock. True to CSC tradition, we got lost, twice. I then offered our trail leader and honorary membership. Pic 2 is the "turn-around. Pic 3 is Justin's SFA '88 mini truck on its maiden voyage.

I've got to give big kudos to Luke for the bumpers. :bounce: :bounce2:  I spent four days dropping off the biggest ledges I could find before I hit that thing. The clearance is amazing. My only disappointment is that I can no longer intimidate the rocks by beating them with my hitch!

Lets see if this works, muffler carnage and mickey mouse repairs. Luckily the ujoint is self clearancing or the noise would have driven me nuts. I was afraid the muffler would fall off the pipe, stick in the dirt and rip the whole thing out. Thanks to Claudia and Carl for carrying bailing wire.

Tuesday was Lockhart Basin, from Monticello to Moab, entered at the Canyonlands Park entrance and come out on Kane Creek Rd in Moab. The park entrance road is worth the trip alone, great scenery. The group was Carl & Karen, Rob, Matt, Drew & George and Sue & I. On the way in we stopped at Newspaper Rock, a cool bunch of doodling on a rock face.

It's difficult to convey the vastness of this area, I tried to shoot pix with trucks in them to give some sense of scale. In this shot Carl, Rob and Matt are working their way across a shelf, I highlighted the trucks, then enlarged them.

Getting to the Lockhart Canyon area. It's about a 10 mile side trip that we didn't take, but is a good excuse for another trip.:D
