would be even better with an arb or some sort of real bumper:D

What I would like to see is an FJ-40 in those same modern tests. I know, they were not designed for crash testing at all, but I still feel there is something to be said about a good solid frame and steel in a vehicle. The FJ Cruiser is all desinged to crumple on impact, which I guess is the wave of the future. But I've seen older vehicles take some hard hits, and you could still drive them home, hell drive them another five years after a good wreck. That frontal test on the FJC looks like it is totaled forever. For that matter I'd like to see a test on a 55 and 60 also, just out of curiosisty.

The crumple zones are not to ensure the vehicles continued use, but rather the operators :).

If it doesn't crumple, the contents take the kinetic hit...aka a large metal blender.

A buddy of mine was in my old (pristine) '87 FJ60 in a head-on at 65 - hit by a new Monte Carlo. The Monte driver pushed the airbag out of the way and walked away and my buddy took a year to recover - no broken bones, but soft tissue and head injuries. He was wearing his seat belt. The FJ60 exploded - but didn't absorb energy very well. This proves Chevies are a good thing to be in an accident in, if nothing else. Save my '95, I'd hate to be in an accident in any of my older FJs.

One thing our beloved 40's are missing that the FJC has are fully boxed chassis. Also, looking at the two sets of doors, I much rather be hit in the side in the FJC.
