Back at home base AZ. My GPS sez 1341 total miles traveled; 230 miles of trails. :grinpimp:

Thanks to everyone who rode the trails with us, it was simply awesome!

Special thanks to Kevin for setting up the pre-run :D, and for greatly needed spotting help when I couldn't see the line on CliffHanger :crybaby:.

Also, thanks to Phil for his expert spotting for everyone throughout the trails, for calmly running the recovery/winch action on CliffHanger :):), and for putting up with the Chevy push-pull steering on my truck...

Thanks as well to Chris, who gave me his spare ARB line so I could get my rear locker working again :bounce:, and to Kurt from CruiserOutfitters, who helped me out with the correct fittings in order to replace my burned :bang:  custom braided line with the standard ARB line....:)

Pictures to follow in the next few days, I hit the shutter way too many times. As Rob said, a lot of the places we've seen on this trip are simply too big to fit into a camera :D

Just made it home, unloaded the truck, starting to suffer post Moab withdrawals.:crybaby: For the first time in 8 days the CB is turned off, the tires have street pressure in them, the truck is a complete mess from stem to stern, but looks beautiful to me!:D As time allows will post some of the + thousand pix.

What a great trip! Good weather, places to stay, food, killer trails, fantastic views, etc. But with any trip it's the people, friends that make it fun and I'm proud to say that the CSC and our adopted Canadians are the best! From the first meet at the gas station to the last supper you guys and gals worked together to make sure that everyone had the most fun possible. So thanks to a great group of friends for making this trip an absolute blast, lifetime memory!

Got home an 1/2 hour ago.

Super tired. Note to Ross, don't stay up till 2am the night before a 10-11 hour drive. :o

I had one of the best times ever that I had in my truck. Getting to do runs with all the CSC folks is just fantastic. A special thanks to all the excellent spotting, in particular Phil who made the trails a fantastic experience.

I now officially call Phil my "Wheeling Caddy". He helped me "read the greens" and "pick clubs". I couldn't have done it with out you. I am sorry I almost ran you down on Cliff Hanger. :p

And to everyone else.

Yes, someone did pee on my tent.:lol::lol:

Yes, I did lock my keys in the truck and No, I don't carry a spare.:lol::lol:

simply said - it was a blast :grinpimp:

the Pre-Run with CSC and the Canadians was great :steer:

and meeting old and new friends in Moab is the whole point of Cruise Moab :bounce:

of course, I had tires in the air left and right, but with them being new, it really made a difference and contributed to a near perfect Golden Spike Run :bounce2:

thanks to everybody who spotted (particularly Kevin and Phil  ) or contributed beer, stories, and cause for laughter

kudos to the Moab newbies - they did great

I can't wait to go again :bounce: :bounce2: :bounce:

I forgot the carnage report:

a bird died on impact on my windshield on the way home at 75 mph - there are still three feathers clinging to the glass

Darwin at work :meh:

:D:D:D for the last week - had a blast - we even had our own FJ (stall) Team:clap:.

Man that seemed like a long drive yesterday - I'd hate to be facing Drew's drive:steer:

I'm putting in for next year's vacation now;)

What a great group - the CSC group actually constituted about 5% of the total entries - we had 9 trucks and 16 people in attendance:cheers:! Pics to follow...

Great pics!
While you guys were having a boring time in Moab and getting pissed on, I spent the weekend hanging out with Bman and his family and building my winch mount. Pics to come later on that ;)

Ross, just as a Public Service Announcement:

Your "Newbie Wheeler" status has officially expired.

No, it will not be possible to put in a new application. :grinpimp:

Just to be clear, I may not be a newbie but I still have no clue what I'm doing.

:lol::lol::lol:

Not much that I can say that hasn't been said already...friendly people, great memories, cool trails. I also know a lot more about rocks. A big thanks Ross for the seat, entertainment and a safe:rolleyes: place to stay.

But I must add that I am exceptionally proud of the people that represented CSC at Cruise MOAB on all levels, and also proud to be a part of CSC.

in recapping the trip, Michael mentioned that it might actually be fun to have a Geology-oriented wheeling tour one of these days  :flipoff2:

I didn't know a bird can fly that fast ;).

..."aerodynamics of a brick"...

to cite a highly respected member of this club :flipoff2:

I have really been trying to get going with you guys on some of the mine exploration trips. I'm not an expert in mining and whatnot, but I know enough to be dangerous.

What a birthday present . . . . .

This trip was the result of my wife asking me what I wanted to do for my 40th birthday. Now I can't get the smile off my face :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
It yielded great times and memories for me and my family. If at all possible I'll be back again next year. Cool town, amazing trails, and great countryside to view on the way up and back.

I think the rest has already been well said about the people and CSC's mark on Cruise Moab '08. Big kudos to the folks of Rising Sun for putting on such a fun event.

Great trip, great people. This may have been the best CM yet. We did CSC proud. The think we're starting to get a good reputation with the Rising Sun folks. In many ways, our preruns were run better that the official events. Phil even showed up after three years of threatening:rolleyes: and was a welcomed addition. I'm still beat after being home for two days. My truck is on a sprinkler as we speak, I left about 50 lbs of mud at the car wash last night, so hopefully I won't have to recover the mud with a shovel this year.

Time for pix!

The first full day on the trail was Hotel Rock. The rigs were Carl (FJC), Rob (80), Jim (FJC), Chris (100), Drew (FJC) and I (80). The trail runs on the north rim of Arch Canyon, the turnoff is just north of the Arch turn and it climbs the bluff. The big feature in the pix is Comb Ridge, it runs south for ~20mi from here, in the valley is Comb Wash.
