Clunking noise

Body mount bolts all present and correct?

My battery box had a stress fracture that allowed it to swing about a bit - could be another possible I guess.

In the beginning I did briefly check them not thinking that was it , I was more focused on the suspension. But now as I check things off the list I'll have to revisit them. Thanks

I did have a dunk/thud thing that I traced back to a shock mount eventually. Several times I crawled under the rig and shook everything but couldn’t locate it. One day I went under again and as I was parked on a slope, that loose mount revealed itself.

I’m still getting a clunk, but it’s different. I definitely need to replace my body mounts (and check my hood).

Look for rub marks underneath your transmission hump.

After I check the hood hinges fingers crossed. Next all four wheels off the ground look for any rub marks again. My other option run it till it snaps, rips, cracks, twists, bends or just falls off...... then I'll know what the noise was.

Just wanted to thank everyone who replied to my post!!!
Roadstr60 your suggestion was the one. I would of bet anything that was not the problem. Just like you said sounded just like a rubber mallet on the floor boards. Exhaust hitting the frame. What an easy fix, the bright side new spring bushing and new Bilstein shocks. It drives like almost new. Thanks again

Only 803 more rattles and clunks to track down.

I've chased probably 50 rattles out of my 40. New ones keep appearing.

I need to go through all of the top mounting bolts and give everyone a snugging. Even lubing up the door seals removes some noises. I'm road tripping to the Black Hills next month and need to give everything a once over before I'm being driven crazy by something in the middle of no where

I love it when I’m faced with an issue on this truck and someone is posting about it at the same time. This thunk has been driving me crazy - thought for sure it was something in the steering column or transmission tunnel. Then it mysteriously almost fully disappeared. It wasn’t until I read this thread that I realized (as a side project) I had replaced my side hood “bumper pads” in the interim. It was my hood all along! Still need to address the hinge bushings, though.

I concur wholeheartedly. I’ve been on several forums over the years for various things and even stumbled upon a different site somewhat geared towards TLC’s and this one is by far filled with generally kind, knowledgeable and helpful folks.

I’ve made several solid friendships and have learned boatloads in the years I’ve been on. You look at my first posts and they’re kind of embarrassing but I’m leaving them to remind myself that we all started out knowing squat at some point.
