Didnt forget...just didnt think it was worth posting. Theyre just seat belts after all.;)

Maybe some people want ideas on how to do theirs too.... Just sayin.

I will say that with the console in...its REALLY FAWKING COMFORTABLE!:grinpimp:

I'd like to see a picture of the inside. The price and provision for a DIN mount stereo are compelling, even though I prefer stock.

I've been thinking of mounting my DIN stereo deep into the stock radio cutout, but the PITA factor is much less compelling. It would require me to remove the heater for fab work, which I would then have to renovate. Dealing with a mostly-working heater is way down on my list.

Just yanking your chain a bit.:hillbilly:

Friggin HOUNDS!!!:D

Recycling a bit...Had an excess of the ruff stuff shock mounts...Im going to use these to mount the tank at 4 points. Got the bushings from summit (energy suspension) and the tube 1 3/8 from protofab here in town. The thinking is, the bushings will provide dampening (of course), but will also isolate the tank. Im pretty excited about this as a method to mount it. Theyll be nice and sturdy, allow for easy removal and ill also be able to sort of ease the tank down from one end or the other. They will affix to the cross members (shock and wrap bar).

Eddy,
I can get you some of the inside tomorrow if you want.
From the trash that everyone talks about these, Ive gotta say I was impressed with the quality. The biggest thing that I dont like about it is in order for the lid to STAY SHUT, it needs to be locked, otherwise its open all the time and liable to flop open. Something I can live with for 80 bucks though. The other down side is the MONSTROUS cup holders...I hacked em off cuz they wouldnt work with where I mounted the e brake, so Im gonna have to fab a set to bolt on.
The hole in the dash from the stock radio...SUCKS!!!! I hear ya on that. The PO hacked mine so now that is coming up quickly what to do with that.

How many shock mounts did you order?! And even tho I no longer have my BJ42 I would also like to see the radio mount stuff in the console. (I miss that truck :-( )

Maybe you can mount one or two "cabinet" magnets inside to keep it close when unlocked.:hhmm:

Just a thought on the seat belts.
Around these parts we run full belts as you are and then another single lap belt. Ditch the shoulder belt when in the rocks, off road etc. and needing to lean out and check on wheel position.
Generally only the Male lap belt is required

I donno...What happened, I picked some up from a swap meet down in stockton ca. he was at, thinking I was gonna use em for something else, then I got the SOA kit from him...Im actually glad that I DID buy so many now as Im finding some great uses for them that are saving me a TON of fab time, not to mention making holes LINE UP appropriately.

That is actually a FANTASTIC idea!!!!! In general, one wouldnt NEED the lid LATCHED DOWN, so a little EXTRA tension would be perfect. NICE ONE! Ill look into that!

Now that is something that I wouldnt have thought of either! I set heights on the 3 points where I could comfortably reach the shifters and such, and I can slip the belt off the shoulder if I NEEDED to reach down into the PS floor. Clicking the whole thing in is a bit of a bitch with the race seats. Not hard or anything, but...just sort of a PITA. Something Ill have to live with.

Ill get some pics of the inside of the console up later tonight.
In the HOLE in the dash, Im gonna try and mount my 2M radio in there. Im really hoping that I can make that work in THAT spot, cuz im just not excited about trying to fill it in with sheet metal and match the factory stamp while keeping it straight.

I've been working on a slick bracket system for mounting my FT-2800 in the FJ60 that should work for your in-dash mount. I'll post some pictures up on the club forum when I get it finished.

It's not done yet. Between the 100 starter dying and being sick I haven't had time to finish it.

But I'll get back on it massah. :flipoff2:

I have seen a few folks who used this area to install a switch panel. It would be easy to clean up the hole you have, and create a switch panel to fill the hole. :hhmm:

Yeah...I, myself, wont have much in the way of switches. This thing the PO did was sort of crimp out the upper edge of the dash hole with some pliers, so its all chewed up. Id have to oversize the cut in all directions and try to bend MY piece to match the factory bend on the dash. Not that I CANT do it...I just dont wanna. So I figure if I could utilize that spot with something that I NEED in the rig, itll be time ahead of the game. That's why I figure the dimensions of THAT cant be that far off from what my 2M, FT2800 radio are.

Hey for 80 bones I kinda love that thing!

I KNOW, RIGHT!!!! Yeah...the tuffy's are nice and all, but...the price tag!!!! They are a bit TOO PROUD for me.
All I had to do was make a plate to weld to my seat cradle and drill holes in it to mount it...DONE. Still gotta make some cup holders for my spitter.:hillbilly: For me...the arm rest is PERFECT from the little bit Ive sat in it.
