I've been working on a slick bracket system for mounting my FT-2800 in the FJ60 that should work for your in-dash mount. I'll post some pictures up on the club forum when I get it finished.

I have seen a few folks who used this area to install a switch panel. It would be easy to clean up the hole you have, and create a switch panel to fill the hole. :hhmm:

Yeah...I, myself, wont have much in the way of switches. This thing the PO did was sort of crimp out the upper edge of the dash hole with some pliers, so its all chewed up. Id have to oversize the cut in all directions and try to bend MY piece to match the factory bend on the dash. ....
Or you could make a blanking plate. It's harder to explain than to build, think of a two narrow U shaped pieces of metal with a tapped hole in the center part of the U. now think of a flat piece of metal large enough to cover the hole with two holes drilled in it. Run screws through the flat plate and thread them into the U shaped pieces, when they tighten up it holds the flat plate tight. You can put holes for switches in the plate.

It might be a good place for interior winch controls. :flipoff2:

Keith,

For bumpstops, head down to PNP and look under the rear of 1st generation Nissan Pathfinders, Mistubishi Monteros and other SUV's like Oldsmobile Bravadas. They all have some fantastic progressive bumpstops made of rubber (of various heights) that bolt onto simple brackets that you can easily replicate on your frame. Pretty much look under any and all solid rear axle suv until you find the one(s) you like.

Getting close to 100 pages, that is traditionally the point that a build thread needs to be on the road.

Great info in this thread! Good luck coming down to the wire....

So for my useless post of the week I just wanted to say I got my dog a new collar that he was super excited about when he saw it and couldn't wait for me to put it on him.

Spoiled rotten...

So here is his new bling.

This is not a traditional build thread. It's more like the BOB thread.

Spring look a little fxxxered up in that 2nd pic man? Hoping that wasnt sitting in the drive way?
Those bumps arent a bad option. Think I saw em at summit or 4 WP...

Naw I had the left rear on the top of my trailer rail so that's just the spring drooping down, I dunno if you can see it but the spring is twisted some from the body position.

How long did that rig take to build???
Im coming up on 1.5 years NEXT month.:o HOLY CRAP I can NOT believe its been THAT FRIGGIN LONG!!!:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

I hope this thing will be worth it. Just talking with a friend...a buddy of ours had his garage catch on fire. Basically burned his garage to the ground, but the rest of the house was okay...he lost a TON...He was really into motorcycles and hes gonna get HOSED from the UN-surance co. from the work and add ons he put into his bikes. Makes me think...I got my rig for 1700 bucks, but what is it worth if all goes up in smoke???? Id be PISSED AS HELL!!!!

Just something I was thinking about.
