How long did that rig take to build???
Im coming up on 1.5 years NEXT month.:o HOLY **** I can NOT believe its been THAT FRIGGIN LONG!!!:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:.

Its not only the destination, you need to enjoy the road up there, at least we do.;)

I hope this thing will be worth it. Just talking with a friend...a buddy of ours had his garage catch on fire. Basically burned his garage to the ground, but the rest of the house was okay...he lost a TON...He was really into motorcycles and hes gonna get HOSED from the UN-surance co. from the work and add ons he put into his bikes. Makes me think...I got my rig for 1700 bucks, but what is it worth if all goes up in smoke???? Id be PISSED AS ****!!!!

Just something I was thinking about.

Talk to your insurance agent, maybe he can help minimise the damage financialy. But no mather how much you get if something happens it will be painfull to lose that much of yourself.:frown:

Yeah I think about that too. According to the insurance co the replacement value of my truck is probably under 2K, that would barely cover the Orion box.

Depending on which office.:hhmm:

I always like when a jeep guy stops by and says "why is that taking so long to build" I respond with "I just can't pick up a mag and order my stuff so I can be like everybody else". We have to work at this and just not bolt sh*t together.

It is a love hate spending money that is for damn sure!

True, but to be fair some of them do build stuff and not just get bolt on stuff. However like you stated still tougher for us as you can't just walk into a four wheel drive shop and get what you want without ordering it.

I've always maintained that cruisers in general are difficult to own for that reason and thus, not for everyone. I think that is what makes each of them so unique and intersting... We are forced to be creative for the mods we want and can't be afraid of effin it up.

Btw.... My fuel pump came in yesterday. This should be interesting.

What did you order as a fuel pump? Guess you got a plan of action?

Yeah. After weighing the pros and cons in tank vs. In line, I opted to go with the GM stock, in tank pump. Ordered an 01' tahoe pump.

:princess: and I drove almost all the way to Lockwood and back today, it was a great day to be wheelin, sunny and warm with just enough mud to keep it interesting. Popped off a few rounds up in the hills along the way, let Jake chase as many wild horses as he wanted. The best thing is I aired down in the driveway, I'll air up tomorrow from the garage compressor, isn't it great that we live so close to trails?

Oh wait, you don't have a Wheeler do you? Sorry, that was insensitive of me.:flipoff2:

I have a feeling I'm going to pay for this post, try to think of it as a motivational thing.

Maybe a mile from my house to dirt. Chicago lives even closer.
There are miles and miles of trails right in the hills behind where we live. Mostly just pole line roads but a few challenges thrown in.

Awesome

So...BEFORE I really got into mounting this tank, I wanted to really try and flex the rear, PS axle UP as much as I could...
I hooked a chain around the PS rear axle and hoisted (with the engine hoist) it up about 2-3 ft in the air...could have gone a bit more, but the cage is just tacked and NOT bolted down yet, so I didnt wanna push it too much...Now I know that real time wheeling will be nothing at all like THIS controlled garage flex set up, but that wrap bar came NO WHERE NEAR the tank where it was strapped in. I spent quite a few hours out there looking at this and trying to figure the best way to do this in the location its at. I looked at WHERE on the tank would be the best place to put the pump, the easiest way to access it from the TOP with building a hatch for access to it, and the appropriate depth BELOW THE DECK of the tub for the hoses and wiring to clear without chafing. Seems that if I pitch the FRONT of the tank DOWN a bit about 1.5 in, the pump would have ample room, it would keep the fuel around the pick up even though its toward the front middle of the tank.
I also discovered that the pump itself is SHALLOWER than I originally thought. It only 9 and 5/8 in deep which would only allow a 1 5/8 deep sump. Im now wondering if I shouldnt get the truck pump and have a deeper sump or if I should even go through the hassle of building in a sump and just running this the way it is???
