This F*CKING fuel tank thing is GONNA KILL ME!!!!
It is absolutely F*CKING ridiculous how lawyers, insurance companies and law suits have totally F*CKED UP this once great company...
TRUE STORY...
I called to get some dimension and info on an aftermarket tank that is specific to a particular vehicle. Dude on the phone WOULD NOT answer ANY of the questions I had re. this tank because of the fact that I said it was for a custom application...why..."for insurance reasons we can not suggest or encourage its use for any other application accept for its intended model or design."
NO FU*KING WAY!?!?!?!?!
I cant even get an idea if the F*CKING TANK is position specific?????
The down fall of American society!!!!!
Truly a shame!
come across that a few times myself. Pretty unimpressive.
I wouldn't blame the lawyers 100% they wouldn't be in business without greed. And people who want something for nothing.unbelieveable! I was almost STUNNED.
Its actually VERY IMPRESSIVE the power the lawyers levy on the whole nation. Its SOOOOO fawked up.
Im just gonna build this thing myself. F it! Im gonna get the dimensions down this week and take it to the steel shop and have them brake it for me.
This is one thing that has been naggin me since I discovered that I had to cut out the tank pan...quite a while now. Time to get it done and move on.
I try.dude!!!! Now that is some funny stuff right there!!!

you gotta tig to put that tank together? I personally wouldnt wanna mig one, too many pinholes could pop up easily IMOP. plus TIG would be bling looking.
I WILL be pressure testing it probably numerous times as well.Nope...MIG is what I got, MIG is what Ill use.
you go over it enough, youll fix the leaks.I WILL be pressure testing it probably numerous times as well.
I was thinking it would be a good excuse for him to buy a TIG set-up.I've looked at a lot of older "home made" style oversized gas tanks that were used for years and years and at best they were mig'ed.
I say mig that bitch.

Okay....Ill DO IT!
All you guyz have to do is give me the money and well get this ball rollin!!! It shouldnt be THAT much divided among all of you. Ill even chip in a couple hundred for the "cause"! That's just the kind of guy I am!
My dad was a welder and machinist by trade. He used TIG almost exclusively. He was and still is GREAT at it. I had ran a few beads with his set up several years back when I got into this game.
I DO peruse CL for a set up from time to time, but...its a REALLY EXPENSIVE set up and its also a constant cost for consumables as well...toungston rod for the tips, gas bottles, filler rods, torch cups...Miller has a nice little self contained unit out now, and that is 1800 bucks.
Bottom line...NOT HAPPENING!
Right now at least!

Somehowe I knew you where going to say that.
Have you got a plan for the tank yet?[/QUOT
Yap! Basic cube 25 x 20. X 8/9 (depending on the sending unit). Sump, baffles, pick up, return, vent, drain plug and a capacity just over 17 gal. I think I have it figured that I'll be able to use the stock filler assy. Will be supporter by 4 bolts similar to that of a shock where the bolt will go through a bracket, mounted off the upper, rear shock mount and the wrap bar x member. Gonna do a mock up out of cardboard this weekend and see if I'm missing anything. Probably gonna use a heavier ga. Steel for welding purposes to minimize burn through.
Sound like a plan??![]()
