Everything is looking great. Nice job on the paint. Looking forward to the finished product. I keep meaning to swing by, but either you are busy or I am.

Jack

Thanks Jack.
Weekends Im out there all day pretty much. You know. Like you said...at this point, the "devil is in the details!" Rings in my head with all this tedium.
Im glad that I got those sensors squared away though. I was worried about those. I had been reading posts on people people drilling and tapping the head and crap. I DID NOT wanna do that. I would be just my luck to come to the end of this and get some shavings in the motor and EFF UP the whole thing.
I DID break my T stat housing...the t stat was siezed in there, and I had to use a little persuasion. One of the holding tabs snapped off.:bang:
Im gonna pull the whole water pump assy and drill and tap it for the steam port. Im concerned with the longevity of the AL. radiators, so I think tapping the pump housing is a good long term solution, vs. welding a bung in the rad.
Im getting it figured. Well see when the wiring comes.

I wouldn't worry about that front shaft. I think it will be just fine unless you intend to jump the rig, but then your issue will be a bent front housing.

I'm excited for you to get to the body assembly, that will really get you moving.

That looks really good! The axle could wander side to side when flexing on a side slope, but I can't imagine your joint would get any closer. Good work!

Another thing I did was flex the PS of the rig and see how close the shaft is to the trans pan at full stuff. The CLOSEST it gets at ANY POINT is 3/8 in. Still a concern, but...I think Im gonna run it and see. I SHOULD be good. O dont think itll change much even under load???

Anyone have any thoughts otherwise?

Like said above. And only way it would start moving that far would be when spring bushing start to go or you bust a leaf and it moves a little more freely under the truck. But I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are worried about the axle just fab up a small bracket that will be hit just before the DC hits the engine. It will warn you in what situation things might go wrong.

Keep that DC shaft. You may have to grind down some of the lip on that pan where the DC joint could contact (drivetrain moves a little too) but I'd wait until you really flex it to see if it contacts. Having that doubler opens up a nice little pocket for that DC joint. Just take it easy and adjust those bump stops if needed. Build is looking great!

Im bored, post updates. I got my 14 Bolt under the truck yesterday, no gears or drive flange but its in place.

Had to head home to Chicago for family reasons....bitter sweet trip. My little granny Hansen isn't doing so great. :(

Sorry brother our prayers go out for you and yours

Appreciated man! Thank you!

Game is back on!
Got the oil pressure sensor drilled and tapped off the oil filter cap deal, drlled and tapped a port for the steam port to the water pump, painted a bunch of crap, Espressomon and RustyTLC are coming over tomorrow evening to help guide my freshly painted tub BACK ON the frame for the FINAL TIME....s*** IS MOVING NOW!!!!!!:grinpimp:
Got a bunch of other little odds and ends done too.

Here are a couple of pics for future reference if anyone needs WHERE to put the steam port and oil pressure sensor. These are where OTHERS have done it, so Im just following the trail that had already been blazed.

Anyone happen to know if the serpentine belt can be purchased WITHOUT AC, or will I have to buy an AC fill pulley, which is essentially a pulley bracket that takes the PLACE of the AC unit??

You should be able to order a belt to size, if not from an auto parts store then from an industrial supply store. of course you need to know what length you need.

Yeah, I would like to stick w/ a standard size though for those "just in case" moments.
I didn't actually realize that there we custom lengths though....

Yeah they get used in industry in certain applications so they come in all different sizes. If your worried about breakages just buy a few spares, I'm guessing belts would be included in your trail spares list anyway?

Yes, of course, there will be a spare, but...unforseen circumstances always creep into my brain.
Somewhat paranoid I suppose. I just like the ability to be able to walk into a chain parts store and be able to find what I NEED, especially for a "garden variety" component such as this.
