I saw you have the cluster for sale, you may want to hang onto that until you get the wiring sorted. If you don't use it, then sell it. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

@Sam Stewart put a 22re in a early 80s pickup. Maybe he will see this and offer some pointers.

Thanks for that, Probably not a bad idea. I figured I wouldn’t need it since I’m going to try and use the cluster that’s in the other truck.

I don't know how you guys live in places with HOAs, I have built developments that had HOAs, the best was when three women from the HOA came to my office trailer instructing me what color I could paint front doors. I instructed my on site laborers to paint several of the under construction houses front doors Canary Yellow, not on the list :)

They threw a hissy fit that had us laughing for weeks. Best money I ever spent on paint!

I understand the original purpose for HOAs but like most things that give average people a little bit of power, it gets out of control. I read years ago about a guy in palm beach that painted his house using all 13 colors the HOA approved. It took him something like 3 years to get permission to paint his house the blue he originally wanted to. It even made the Key West paper!

Didn't want to wait eh? Looks like it's time for you to get a trailer :p

Someone wanted it out of the garage ahaha @fourtrax. But yes we do need one. Currently accepting donations for a trailer :)

Oh man its been a long week... But started out today stripping down the motor and getting it cleans also with the transmission. Gonna start pulling the oil pan and timing cover to do the gaskets and also doing an EGR delete on it. I think they put type of leak stop for the radiator and it was terrible inside, pulled all the freeze plugs and clean out all the water ways with the pressure-washer because we thought that it was gonna to be everywhere in the motor and good thing we did that, went ahead and ordered some brass freeze plugs. I'm tired of winter... ITS TOO COLD!!!

Same sentiments about winter from me. I had big plans for wrenching yesterday but ended up making a fire outside and standing by it all day.

I built a fire INSIDE in the wood stove and sat with my feet up :)

almost two weeks without updates.. man i'm slacking, But in all honestly there really hasn't been that much done to update until now. Today was perfect weather to be out there cleaning the block and valve cover to get ready for paint without my fingers falling off, gonna paint the block an aluminum color and the valve cover blue.

So what's done so far is oil pan gasket, rear main, brass freeze plugs, timing cover gasket, oil pump gasket? (think that's what it called), Once everything is painted i got a new waterpump and gasket and valve cover gasket. Then the engine is set and ready to go in after i send the injectors out to get done cause that probably not a bad idea :).

Saturday i should be getting the truck and another surprise that yall are gonna be mad at me for and be "How the hell did that happen". But i don't wanna spoil it hehe. Also pumped to get some towing time in for the first time. Hopefully we make it back in one piece...

EDIT: forgot to mention how much of a pain the but it was to clean off the bottom of the timing cover...

Well tonight was a real bummer.. Gonna have to pass on the truck and was going to get a 83 k5 blazer bumper with a Warn 8274 for $250, Both fell through when the guy didn't have a title for the the truck when he thought he did but happened to no be the case, only reason for not going through is it not being street legal it would be a hassle to do things and go from place to place and even if i could get it plated with that title if i were to get pulled over or something and the ran the vin on the truck and the one on the plate i would get screwed with tickets. but it wasn't meant to be i guess, and then the bumper and winch fell through when his son had sold it unexpectedly without him knowing... I'll have some things to work on in the mean time like finish up the motor and rebuild the front axles and find some more parts. On a better note the block is painted.

Not having a title is most definitely not ideal but in some cases is nothing more then a minor added expense.

Example: the yellow 40 I recently purchased did not come with a title signed into my name. The owner did have a NC title that was signed to him form the previous owner...which could've been put into his name and then signed to me. This would've cost a few hundred bucs and time. The option I chose was to pay a couple hundred less for the truck but without a title in my name.

There is a detailed process to get a title in these circumstances...starts with a surety bond. These usually cost 100.00 for the trucks we are dealing with and serve the purpose of removing liability from the DMV if there is a an issue with the vehicle (stolen, title lien, etc.). If the vehicle in question is old enough to not require emissions and/or safety inspection then the process is usually just the surety bond, a couple forms, bill of sale and a trip to the plate agency with $.

This process can definitely be complicated if the vehicle was never titled in NC, etc, etc. You would also not want to proceed with this route if you have any reason as to feel less than 100% confident of the sellers legal ownership of the vehicle...when dealing with folks whom you have no prior relationship/ connection to then this will likely always be a question.

That is true i could do that,

The guy registered it with an 85' title and had no problem with it for 2 years, yet he's out in the country and the probably don't car, but i have no knowledge of where the actual VIN for the truck is out of state or not. Also the thought we came up with is why did he stop driving it, the motor runs, the transmisson shifts and everything we just feel like something is being left out. Just gonna wait till we find the right one :)

Painted the valve cover today, came out pretty good in my opinion. gotta wait for it to dry and then sand the Toyota lettering down to bare metal and give it a couple coats of clear. Motor is starting to look great but defiantly not as good is @S4Cruiser 40 hehehe, i can't get something to ever be that clean.

More too come ,soon.

very nice.... what's the plan with the motor again cam and header?

I think we are just gonna do a header for now. We went through and did all of the gaskets and freshened it up. Just gonna put the money into dual cases instead of a bunch in the motor.
