Stash Update:
I want you all to know that when it was clear that we couldn't have the event in April, I cut my facial hair. But when talk of postponement grew, and the calls for cancellation were silenced it awakened a new crop of luxurious fine spun fleece. This pelt of manliness has been adorning my face for a couple of weeks now and although it's no Tom Selleck, it's definitely fast becoming my wife's least favorite thing about me. I shall cultivate it as much as will allow. I hope you all will join me in growing your face fur, and hope that you will all see it in June. Just so you know, a full stash is as effective as a N95 mask.... I read it online so it must be true.

Grow on, staches. For in June. WE RIDE!

I had my mustache long before I met my wife, so her being pro-mustache was definitely a deciding factor for me. My wife has only seen my face completely shaved once. Said she felt like she was cheating on me with me and didn't know how to process that.

Mustache ri...wait, what?

Pushing to June for me gives me a much better chance of getting my forty road/trail worthy to make the long death-wobbly journey from CLT... oh ya also gives me time to fix the rear shackle mount that snapped off two to three yrs ago at CRR. Very fired up to potentially be back in the mix after a long hiatus!
Likewise, I'm making some good progress on the 40. Hopefully all of us CLT folks can organize a caravan.

For those of you that want to protect yourself from dust and germs on the trail we now have neck gaiters, this one with a built in beard is available. $5 more and we can customize it with your face or whatever you want. Your dogs face? Your wife’s face? A clown face? Wilfred Brimley? You name it.

Quick Question-
Would my daughter (16) be allowed to ride her ATV behind us on the trails?
I know, we would need to pay the fees and all, but would that be allowed by the group?
...Not a lot of room in the back of the cruiser

If she’s a legal driver and sticks to the legal atv trails I don’t see a problem with her riding at Uwharrie. But her following the CRR group as part of it? I’m not sure our insurance would allow it. Grand Overland and Big Creek rides are private guided so I’m not sure their locations or guides would agree to a mixed group like that.

She could also ride shotgun or back seat with someone else on those rides. I know I’ll likely have room for 1 or 2 folks depending on which one I bring.

We’re reviewing the insurance today so I’ll take a look and see.

Thanks. I know she won't want to sit in the back the whole time. I mentioned the ATV idea and she was excited to go

Hey Greg! Are you gonna make it? I should be there with some more of the Low Country Land Cruisers. It will be food to see you and your family!
Just registered today!
I originally had military duty that weekend, but they are saying we will not due to Covid. See you there!

This just in:

Due to North Carolina's Executive "Stay at Home" order (expiring April 30th), this year's Carolina Relic Run will be postponed to June 4-7th.
We will be moving BACK to Shadowlands (hot showers!) and OEX has confirmed training and Grand Overland private trail access will be ours for the weekend! We're also confirming access to Big Creek as well.

We suggest you hold off on any final decisions on attendance for at least a month. There may be changes that will affect your final decision.

Full refunds for registration are available now and up until May 4th. After that, only the raffle tickets are refundable. If you choose to cancel after May 4th, or are forced to cancel by law, you will receive a full refund on any purchased raffle tickets and your event shirt(s), morale patch/etc will be mailed to you.

Your safety is our main concern. The secondary concern is following the law as it it written. As such, certain aspects of the event may need to be modified to ensure we are following CDC guidelines. We will work to determine any necessary changes in the months to come. We are also exploring a 'virtual' attendance for those of you that cannot make it but want to be part of the event. Anyone willing to help work on setting up the live stream, please contact me directly to discuss. Look for details on that potential option in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, mustaches should be grown accordingly! Kids and grownups should get their costumes out, shine up or fix your relics and come and join us for a great weekend of fun!

@jamesurq Any update on the event to reflect the current phased reopening still limiting gatherings (Phase 1: less than 10 people / Phase 2: qty not provided as of yet) and Badin Lake OHV area currently shown as closed?

We're keeping an eye on things to be sure we're in compliance. Carolina Rebel Run has a nice ring to it though doesn't it? ;)

Confirmed with Big Creek and Grand Overland that it's a no for ATV's. Uwharrie does allow ATV's - you'll want to review the rules/allowed trails/etc. As far as her following you and others on an impromptu trail run at Uwharrie, that's your call - but for the guided CRR runs it's gonna be a no for the ATVs. She'd probably have fun going in one of the more extreme runners on the Big Creek ride as a passenger for that part of the weekend. She might meet someone new and have a blast.

Understood. Thanks for checking on that

But let me make sure I understand everything- I'm a little slow.
Thursday, Friday, and Sunday are all on Uwharri land and she could potentially be able to tag along on her ATV, right? The only ride she wouldn't be able to would be the Saturday Morning private trails- Big Creek and Overland- rides. Am I understanding it correctly?
Or are the private trails a "Relics Only" thing?

We’re camping on private property adjacent to Uwharrie. You and your daughter are allowed to ride those trails whenever you like over the weekend. The private locations will have the Saturday morning “official” trail run at both Grand Overland and Big Creek locations. It’s there that she can’t ride.
Cool? Lmk if you want further clarity.

Since the only real planned trip is Saturday, how do the Thursday, Friday, and Sunday trips normally work?
Do people just say, "If anybody wants to go, meet us here at this time" or is there a signup thread someplace?

Generally speaking it's just impromptu trail rides. This is the first year we've even done signups for the main run :)
