Hi Guys

First post from me, but found a lot of info on this page.
Have a few questions. The OVCV on my vehicle has stopped working in the open position, causing a vacuum leak. Can I just block this off?
And does anyone know where I can get a vacuum hose diagram for this vehicle.

I have searched the internet and all over with no luck for months now, so maybe someone here can help.

Sincerely

Warren

I too am interested in info on the (non FE) 1FZ....

Hello,

A vacuum hose diagram is not available, at least not from the FSM.

There is, however, a general diagram that happens to include the OVCV. Please excuse the low quality picture.

The OVCV is item number one in the picture. By the way, it is a solenoid valve. Its function is to vent gasoline/petrol fumes to the charcoal canister, in order to prevent them from building up in the intake manifold. It turns out that fume build up in that manifold affects engine restart.

When the engine stops, the OVCV opens and dumps vapors into the charcoal canister. During normal operation, it remains closed.

Chances are the solenoid is either bad or lacking power.

Since it is part of the system, I am afraid it is not possible to just block it off.

If you have a vacuum leak, you may want to check the Fast Idle Cam Breaker and the Auxiliary Acceleration Pump (AAP, Item No. 11 in the picture.)

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the info.
After I was not hearing anything back from guys here, I did block it off with a rubber stopper.
Yes, is causes slight restart issues when engine is hot and trying to restart it ten minutes later, have to give it two swings instead of one.
The performance however was noticable, so it was causing a leak.
Thank you for the info on the other two items, I will check that out.
The info on a carb 1fz is little to non so a lot of trial and error is employed.

I have an extra carb I am not using. Would it be of help to you?

Well, on the other side of the world.... middle of the US.

ToyoDIY.com has decent diagrams, including the vacuum piping diagram. Here is the one for my '94 FZJ75 with the 1F engine: ToyoDIY.com

Put your VIN into the system and pull up that diagram. It's not great but better than nothing.

Once again, Thank you.
2fpower, Ill search for parts a little closer to home, if I cant come right will search a bit further.

Got all the hoses in the right places now, and vehicle is running beautifully.
Quite surprising how a few vacuum pipes in the wrong places or missing, kills the power.
