Can somebody make these for the 80?

I would be interested in a set but honestly for $100 I would expect the to be very nice and come with powdercoating. That is in line with other sets that have been sold by guys like shane over at metrictlc and others whom make the rear brackets. Not trying to be a jerk, just some feedback for you.

I'd be in for a set. Garage clearance is limiting my roof mount options for high lights.

I may have mis understood your post. If you were looking to do this venture by all means I'll step out of the way. If you were wanting someone to make a set for you then I will do so for free if the 20 or more interests are made. Sincerely, Dale
Oh not at all, not me. I wish I had the tools/skills to fab stuff but I don't! $100 is a little on the high side for me, but I understand the time/effort involved for a limited product run and wouldn't mind paying it. To give you an idea, SoCalFrank sells a set of the rear antenna mounts powdercoated for $85...

I'd be interested to see what you can come up with, maybe make yourself a prototype set so folks can see what the final product would look like?

I understand. I would expect a very nice finish as well, don't know that I can build it, and finish for that price, but if things go well, and cost are lower than I predict I would consider doing a group buy discount.

I don't have any intentions of producing something that I wouldn't be willing to put my name on. Not that you should expect to see my name on your mounting brackets.

For now I won't include your interest in the initial 20, not being ugly, just trying to play it safe.

I'm with Phil, hood glare smells funny. The slee site has a bracket for the short bus bumper to run a 14" ridged LED bar that looks deadly. Not sure on lumens. But I'm sure would be night and day. Guess I didn't read the hole thread so I'm not sure if ur talkin just lights or bumper as well. Could prob retrofit the slee/ridged bracket to whatever bumper???.....

I'll go ahead and hop in and say I'd be in for a set, barring the prototype looks good, which sounds like you'd be keeping quality at the top of your list. Cheers. I think that makes 17 more needed...

Thank you.

I'm interesting barring final design

I'm pretty busy currently, but it looks as though we may be able to get this thing off of the ground.

I should have some time to start designing, and fabricating a prototype hopefully next week. Until then I would be thankful if those that are seriously potential buyers would continue to post to show their interest.

Good stuff! One thought, the LED market has exploded recently. My advice is to make the brackets in such a way that folks have plenty of room for various lighting options. These little LED pods come in all shapes and sizes these days.

Just a thought I had last night, I'd wonder how it would affect wind noise in the cab. Then I looked at my custom pinstripes and remember how many times I've folded my mirrors on the trail. Just something to think about the mounts may have to be moved sometimes in the trail to keep from damaging the lights.

Anyone verify the ones pictured in the beginning of the thread won't work? Seems like they would be easy to make work on just about hood hinge.

The noise issue is a one I haven't considered, as I doubt I could hear the wind over my engine, and 35's. It may not be an issue, but if it is I would consider it an inherent property of any accessory that causes drag. Chances are the light choice will effect sound more than the bracket.

As far as the mirror / bracket clearance scenario I have already considered this, and came to the understanding that the bracket should be placed similar to the one pictured at the o.p. the reasons are as follows:

-Line of sight, my goal is to minimize view obstruction

-The bracket needs to be outward enough to clear the wiper arm, and inward as much as possible to not extend past the folded mirror profile (obviously light choice will be a major factor in the effective clearance.

In the event that the any of you that are interested have a snorkel I need two measurements: snorkel distance from hood / fender gap, and snorkel height above fender at highest point of snorkel where it meets the hood, and hvac intake vent if applicable.

I could see this being useful if each pod was aimed at a 45ish degree angle away from the hood. This might combat hood glare, give a wider spread of light, and augment front-mounted lights.

Heck, you could even rotate each pod 90 degrees for more roundabout lighting if you're in a pickle.

The light hardware would accommodate adjustment.

I considered this as well. The lighting width would be somewhat limited because the pod will be wedged between the mirror, and the wiper arm. Every light pictured would be able to be mounted via one hole.

Honestly, my biggest hang up is likely something that has nothing to do with the design of the bracket. My concern at this point is wiring. The bracket itself is going to be mounted between a pinch point, however the wiring would not be able to withstand that route for any significant amount of time. Any ideas outside of drilling the hvac intake? I have no qualms about drilling, but I would presume that this would be a deal breaker for most. Input please?
