I never got a good seal on my rear heater either...its coming out anyway (now) so I can round up some BMW 3 series seats and use tor fabs brackets.

I got a good deal on a Scanguage from eBay, so the phone app is going away.

It fits in the dash pocket perfectly. I'll hide the cord through the back.

In all seriousness, my mind is boggled that I was able to do it period.

This was hands down the most complicated project (home, truck, or work) that I've worked on. Looking back it seems simple, but that wasn't the case during.

It was fun though. I want to put another one of these in something else now.

Rob (doesn't know it yet) and I are opening Bluff City Hybrids, an un-authorized dirty Memphis wing of Valley Hybrids.

We hope your junk doesn't get stolen from my carport. (I did have one carport break-in during the swap, true story.)

No wiring involved, just plug it into the OBD. It gets the power and everything through that.

Once calibrated, I should be able to calculate mpg and miles left on the tank and other things like that.

It is mind boggling that you made that swap in that open carport

Also in one of the coldest winters Memphis has seen in a long time. Great work Cam!

Thanks man! Come up and take it for a spin. Heck, anyone is welcome to come by for a testdrive.

I would be gentle with you. And take you out for potato salad after.

I have a working tach now!

I used an OBD tach signal generator from Dakota Digital.

Before I call it a success, I need to get an OBD splitter and make sure the scangauge will read at the same time without issue. (I have another plan if that doesn't work.)

The scangauge wires are now hidden as well.

I'm digging the scangauge. Once you calibrate your gas tank and fuel usage, you can use it to track your mpg accurately as well as miles left on the tank, gallons left... and so on. Standard stuff in modern cars :D

You used the same color wire (green) for both power and ground??? That's asking for trouble if you disconnect that thing in the future and then go to reconnect it. At least put a wrap of colored tape near the end of the wires to identify which one is which --- like red for +12v and black for ground. It could save you an expensive boo-boo in the future.

I just used some scraps for testing purposes!

Final wiring will be all black ;)
