Looking great Cam. Nice work on the fan shroud and A/C fix.

Great thread. I can't wait to see this in the wilds of Nevada. You have done way more, in less time, than most of us. Congrats.

Any suspension mods coming, or is it done? Very nicely done. Are you still married and employed? Not that it matters.;)

Thanks yall! I can't believe how nice it has turned out. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

I'm keeping the suspension as-is for now. My wife has been a pretty good sport so far, but a suspension project might wear out my welcome! Maybe in a year or two though, I forgot how rough this is over bumps and potholes.

As C-Drew mentioned, there is a maiden voyage in the works in May. I'm rendezvousing with the NorCal crew at Great Basin NP in Nevada. I'm stoked - this was exactly why I wanted to do the motor swap.

Me and the boy will bomb the 1700 miles out there, "overland" around remote Nevada for a week, then mash the motor back home.

I'm especially looking forward to being able to muscle my way through this part of the drive...

You are going to love Nevada doing it Basin & Range all the way.

You should read, or bring along, John McPhee's seminal "Basin and Range" which is a geo-sociological look at the terrain in central Nevada concentrating on geological history and development as told by the folks who live there. It's a classic and very simple to digest since McPhee writes so damn eloquently.

I loved our West-to-East trip in 2011. It was epic. If Mudrak is joining this trip, make sure he brings his military laser.

Jealous I can't come this year. :(

Thanks for the tip @daytonadogie

While this one is almost three inches deeper, the sump isn't as wide and doesn't extend as far forward.

I'm going to cut this mounting block off. I can see that it will be the new point of contact on the axle housing.

The diff now has more room, but the front has that mounting block and is a little thicker than the Camaro pan.

The front of the pan is a little closer to the housing than the distance of my bumpstops to the housing, but i think the only time I've hit the bumstops is while flexing on either side, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

I like it.

Finally, the front driveshaft is in!

It actually has better angles than the rear now.

I'm not sure what the deal is, but one of the pan/bellhousing bolt holes does not line up. It does not keep anything from sealing up, it is there for structural purposes.

Since its only one bolt on the bellhousing, I'll just run it, but I thought that was weird. The truck pan and Camaro pan lined up.

That's excellent news! But sure looks like a pretty tight fit all the way around. Glad the Toyota U-joints are strong, 'cause I sure wouldn't want one to break and that shaft to flop around.

Easy there, y'all are gonna jinx it!

I'm glad it worked for you. That one bolt hole didn't line up with my bell housing either. No biggie, I'm sure it's plenty strong.

Looking great man! I'm going to be reaching out to you in the near future to review the whole AC system - nice job getting that worked out.

Interesting development on the oil pan, I wonder if I will need to go this way? :meh: Hoping to be positioning the new drive train this week so I'll know soon.

I love that you're planning to drive it out to my home state. Wish my rig was going to be ready that soon- I'd drive it out to meet ya! Maybe next year.

Just got to see in person. Cleanest job I've ever seen. A++

Thanks!

It is now officially (almost) done. The only thing left is the tach & cruise control. I swear the suspension rides softer now that the new pan is in. Like it knows it has more room to move.

I've been DD'ing it for almost two weeks now and the only issue that has surfaced is a weeping heater hose connection to the rear heater. I double-clamped it, but it still weeps a little.

My trans temps have peaked at 174 degrees after almost an hour of interstate driving at 75 degrees outside. Georg says to worry if it goes above 210, so I'll keep checking as it warms up.

Switching oil pans may not be a bad idea at all. If I were to do another one, I'd go straight to this pan. They seemed to hold the same amount of oil, so I don't see a downside.

A bonus is that this kit is so cheap, you could sell your Camaro stuff on eBay and come out a few bucks ahead.
