Tough call but headroom won out over side to side room we decided against a sleeping platform.

She made privacy curtains out of a canvas painters drop cloth. Side curtains are strung on a 1/16 cable, front and rear on bungees. Mattresses are chaise lounge pads from home depot plus self inflating pads on top. Removed the rear seat bottom for more length and a place to store three Scepter water cans.

We use a canvas tarp and heavy adjustable tent poles from Cabelas for an awning.

Took it on a shakedown camp out and we were pleased with how it went.

Yes! Cow creek. Low traffic and a weak creek for kids to play in. We had to help relocate some trout...this big guy was stranded in a wee puddle.

There are some nice places with small streams if you know where to look. On one Memorial Day many years ago we drove south from the Ponderosa area towards Borrego Dome. We found a nice campsite by a stream. For a big holiday weekend we were the only ones anywhere near.

That is so awesome that you were able to assist those Brownies in their Quest for Flies! I salute your efforts!:smokin:

I really like the US GI medical chests.

I have not seen the legs you mentioned....can you point me to a source?

I have two Harbor Freight 12" tall steps stools. Been using those to elevate the medical chests. We use camp stools so the height is OK, that or just stack the two chests.

Looks awesome! How/ where did you attach the wire for the curtains

Looks awesome! How/ where did you attach the wire for the curtains

Used a piece of hardware called a "rope loop" from Tractor Supply. Drilled and screwed in place on all four corners high on A and D pillars:

The wires are tensioned with turnbuckles and attach to the rope loops with "bridle clips" from Tractor Supply"

The copilot/seamstress bought these clip-on curtain rings online. Nice because you can unclip and remove the curtains and leave the rings on the wire:

There are two curtains on each side, these are simple rectangles. The joint is at the C pillar so you can slide them open a ways to get out thru the rear doors.

The front and rear curtains are strung on bungee cords stretched between the rope loops. These curtains required a bit more design so they would wrap around the corners and meet the side curtains. She added snaps to link them to the side curtains. The rear curtain is long enough to swing up against the rear window and is held in place against the window sill with magnets. The front curtain is left hanging straight down:

I did not like drilling thru the headliner but I gave up on finding magnets strong enough to support the suspension wires.

Not shown in the photos but I added a J hook at the C pillars. The wire is held up by this hook so I do not have to put so much tension on with the turnbuckles.

The ammo boxes hold tools and recovery gear. I can get to the contents without messing with ratchet straps.

Side curtains stowed for travel:

From the first two trips of this year: first pic from Big Meadows campground at Shenandoah NP (previously posted) and the second two from Lake Sherando in Virginia. Easing the family into camping at parks and campgrounds before taking them into the back country...

I have a 413 of the same vintage that I take camping all the time but yours is nicer. Perfect size and huge tank. Does yours have the chrome legs? Mine are missing but I could always borrow them from my 426 if I wanted.

Two great campgrounds! Last time I stayed at Sherando lake I was in a 60...
