For those of you who don't understand that metric nonsense...... or were a product of a rural education.
Wheel base ....... 102.3"
OAL ......... 173.2"
OAW ........ 66.5"
OAH ......... 73.4"
Tare Weight ..... 3,704 lbs
Gross Weight ..... 4,310 lbs

Um,

They were built using metric nonsense...

They just happen to be operated by the beneficiaries of rural education...:hillbilly:

Even John Deere is using the metric system ..... The whole world is going down the crapper. :hillbilly:

Yup, a centimeter at a time............... :flush: :rimshot:

First thing I did when I moved to England was to adjust the thermostat to a nice, comfortable 70 degrees. Well, I forgot to notice that it was celsius, not fahrenheit...hahaha. Just joking.

Thanks for the numbers. I am trying to decide on my next truck to build up. My BJ60 was just way too much room for my wife, one girl, and a beagle. Even with all of the gear, I did not need even half the amount of room there. A MWB 74 is probably just the right amount of size. My Discovery had a good amount of wasted space in it as well. For wheeling, family hiking/ fishing trips, and camping, I think that there is plenty of room in something with a shorter WB and overall length.

The back seat in a 73/74 is nothing to cheer about and entry/exit is less than optimal. Most JDM 74s do not even have rear seat belts in them. Mine does not.

Dan - thanks for the measurements, super helpful! Looks like a 20"LED bar will fit there. Most LED bars appear to work across 10-30V so should be good to go. Speaking of lighting, do you happen to have a link to the LED replacement bulb for the overhead center console? I'm guessing that's the only interior light in the vehicle?

@maurice - thanks for the kind words, I haven't seen it yet so perhaps the photos are all lies! I hope it's a good one, if not it'll be a long drive home :)

@derelict - here's some more info on the 70-series trucks. If you click on the SPECS tab it'll take you to all the measurements Dan posted.

Here's a poor sketch of the front bumper layout that Jason and I are designing:

Yes keeping the pto winch. Final decision!

Fitting some new synthetic rope and doing a small tune up to make sure it's working well. Will try to locate a few extra shear pins as my initial research seems to suggest they might be a weak point.

We've the 100 for family duties so the back seat will probably be pulled and stored in the attic as soon as the 74 finds its way home.

Yep no seatbelts on mine either. Mine is the split bench witch offers a bit more leg room it seems, but at the cost of cargo space. Never use em.
My rear seat is never used and is folded up but does have seat belts ..... Go figure.

If I ever get around to it mine is gonna come out and some type of tie down system is gonna go in. I'm in the same boat as fireball, I got the other cruiser to do the people/dog hauling.

I'm looking forward to your bumper, glad to see your keeping the PTO, any plans to alter the prop shaft to try and tuck it up more?

I've been going back and forth on what to do w mine. One day the porch is fine and then the next I feel it has to go!

I don't think Jason will modify the PTO winch at all. Here is another view of the bumper from the other side. I'll be sure to take a bunch of photos once it is fitted. He sold this to a customer and unfortunately never got any installed photos!

It's funny that some of the trucks didn't have rear seat belts but it looks like all the rear seat backs have a pocket to stow the belts when not in use??

Thinking about some interior creature comforts, does anyone have any advice for an Ipad and Iphone mount? Looks like there might be a spot to the left of the steering wheel on the dash to mount an iphone ram mount? Does Ramm or anyone make a mount that would work on the glovebox handle?

See drawing below:

Can someone take or find a photo of the area in front of the center console cubby? I'd like to figure out a way to mount some cupholders. If some simple bike water bottle holders can be fastened to the cubby that would be just fine.

Also, does anyone know the size of the radio opening? It would be super if a bank of switches would fit under a single DIN radio. Something like this from OTRATTW (6.5"W x 2.3"H) or this from Dirty Parts (5 1/8"W x 2 5/8"H).

And while I'm asking questions, what is the OEM backlight/illumination color?

@cruiserdan do you have that part number or bulb number handy for the overhead bar? That will likely be the best mod of all in a $/amount of impact scale!

For a minute there I thought the dash photo was of your truck, I was staring/ dreaming at those lockers thinking this machine is giving you all the love ,

IMO Keep your tip top 74 close to factory spec, they command their own credibility just the way the are,

I see you got that "feeling" yota keeps telling us about :bounce:

Fireball ....... "And while I'm asking questions, what is the OEM backlight/illumination color"?

It's an exclusive Toyota color called "dim". ;)

Don't let @1978HJ45 fool you. He has access to an upgrade called fire :rimshot:
