I read through this entire thread and have a nice big smile on my face with the outcome. There are some great people on MUD. Bernie, I'm originally from SLO (class of 85) and my parents still live there, I will buy you a drink next time I travel down there.

Ginmtb,
I look forward to having that drink with you sir. We'll then toast all the fine folks who stepped up, took action and raised voices in support.

Well done gentlemen!!! Justice well served.

Mr. Wilson's arraignment appears to have been continued to July 10. I will call the detective on Tuesday to find out what happened and what's next.

He obviously knows how the game is played and is exploiting every aspect of it.

Either the docket is booked solid and his arraignment was pushed to accommodate another case, or his lawyer ( I assume he has one) asked to have the date changed. Either way, he will get his day in court. I don't really expect to get my money back. I'll be satisfied that justice is served and no one else in the cruiser world gets ripped off.

July 10 Dunc.
I checked the court site a few days ago myself thinking the same thing.
Wheels of justice turn slower than a (stock) 60 ;)

Interesting. I wish that I had known about this thread while I was dealing with him from December through May. Long story short, I got some of my money back and some of the parts I was promised (some of which were in deplorable condition). I lost a few hundred bucks, but I consider it a relatively cheap life lesson.

That was the story for most of us as well Runner... especially your last sentence.
People like Chris Wilson prey on the trust and goodwill that makes this site so valuable. The criminals count on us to wright-off some balance as a life lesson and remain silent in our embarrassment. We need to be vigilant to redirect that shame right back where it belongs.

I would encourage you to call the good detective and join our posse.

I got a surprise text message from mr. Wilson last night with a Walmart code for money transfer. He had given me codes in the past for small amounts of money, but last night he provided $700. That payment takes care of me but I know there are still others who are out money. I still have all my documentation and plan on helping others get their money. If Chris owes you money keep pressuring him via email, phone and text. I'm here in Chattanooga and will help anyway I can.

He's trying to reduce his punishment by demonstrating efforts at restitution. See your honor, I've repaid xxx people in the past 2 months.

Not for quite some time I'm afraid.
His arraignment has been continued again to July 24. I called the courthouse and spoke with some nice folks who looked up the details. Chances are, the postponement might be due to difficulties procuring an attorney. We may be in preliminaries for another month before this goes to trial.

In other news... I also received a note from Chris that a WalMart money order was waiting for me. If true, this would settle my civil account. However... Any repayment will have no bearing on my intent to stay the course until the last of us is fully compensated.

Now, what the judge does on the criminal side will be a different matter.

I received a letter yesterday from the Hamilton County (TN) DA's office asking for current contact information in the event that it becomes necessary for the court to contact me for questions or if I need to appear in court. The letter didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, (Chris Wilson has been indicted by the Hamilton County Grand Jury and has a case pending in Division II of criminal court), but it did reassure me that the wheels are turning. The POC for this is Barbie Branum (Victim Witness Coordinator) at (423) 209-7476 barbie.branum@hcdatn.org . I imagine all those involved in this case will be contacted, but I'd suggest that if you don't receive one of these letters in the next week or so, to give Ms. Branum a call and make sure they have your correct contact info.

Great update Doc.
Thanks

Just got an email from Ms. Branum telling me that the case is set for August 28 and that there is no need to be there that day. That gives Mr Wilson a little more time to provide restitution to those he ripped off, but even if he does eventually reimburse me, I'm with you Bernie. I'm staying in this until everyone gets justice one way or another.
