would love a set of those rear guards they look awesome
do you have any build pics of them

Heres a few......basically, always start with cardboard, saves time and money. Cut out what i had visioned, then transfered to .25" steel. then for the flare, had a 2.5" bent 90* to 2" bent 35* to 3.75", by 96" long. Then cut the corners each @ 22.5" fit it on, did a little grinding, then welded together. The third pic is the back side of the flare. When you weld them together, make sure everything is bolted tight to tub as if finished or the heat will warp and you will never get them straight. I've done a couple of these before with slight variations. I have put quite a bit of time into making a die for the brake to create the perfect radius for the FJ40 rear corners, but finally gave in to the 45*.......funny thing is i've have never seen another cruiser with this style quarter peotection, the Nicholas the czar did a build and saw them on there, dont know where he got the but they looked good.

Burnttoast.....

those flares are insane; as well as the whole build. A+++
such a joy to follow. Keep up the great work.

lance at IPOR worked up some 1/4'' rear fender flares that I thought were already available for those looking but lacking the mad metal skills. (myself included) I didnt see them on his site but saw them on a couple rigs at GSMTR.

got the headlight buckets in and mounted the bezel and radiator screen, both powdercoated. Got the Lokar shifter cable in and adjusted. I caught a good rashin' from a few buddies who wanted to know why i went with a column shifter as opposed to a floor mounted rachet style. My reply was:

"This aint no race truck, its job is to roll slow and look good doin it"

i dont know about IPOR but budbuilt has some rear corners link

Completed the majority of the dash wiring, had to get the roll cage out of the weather so decided it was best to just mount it in.

OMG! Those flare body panels look SICK!!!!

Looks really solid. Have you thought about conecting the cage (B and C tubes) to the flare body's on the inside of the tub? That way the fenders will not bend in when you roll.:bounce:

Thanks for posting the pics that gived me a good idead of location. You build looks awesome. The flares are sweet and your cage lines are kick @$$. You do some greatt work

Back from Florida, only to have warmer weather in Colorado. Got back to the wiring, finished up everything underneath, the engine, dash and tail sections. Just have aux light and headlights to go. Everything is wired awaiting the test start, once and wiring checks out good, then i will tie-wrap and loom. Got the front seats, console, dash box, battery and some seat belt hardware finished up today. I had a 7 circuit fuse block so i decided to use it for all my aux. lighting. Once im up and rolling i'll weld up some weather proof aluminum boxes for the fuse blocks.

As for the Painless Performance Universal Harness, it is absolutely worth every single penny. I am by far no wiring guru, but was very surprised at the ease of install, i think mostly due to my anticipation to start finally wiring, stubborn desire for it to come out perfect and reading the manual at least 8 times. The only snag i had was trying to use an aftermarket wiper switch to the FJ wiper motor. There was nothing wrong with the oem switch so i decided to alter it slightly and stick it in, other than that everything else was a snap, just very time consuming.

Looking SAWEET!!! How about a few pics of the lokar shifter. I installed a lokar floor shifter in mine and kind of wish I would have done a column shifter.

Nick

Thanks Nich, yeah, this area was a definite, as for the floor vs. columndebate. The column , to me, is just a cleaner look, uncluttered for the floor, just drop it into D and go, the linkage was a little pricey, but not enough to deter me form installing it anyway. Rachet shifters have their place just not in this application.

Finally got the Cruiser running. no leaks, no problems, typical Ramjet, runnin rich but that'll change as it computer is goin down to Arizona Speed and Marine for a few mods. All the gauges worked as should, im very impressed with the Painless Harness. seat belt got finalized anlong with the wiring loom behind dash and inside motor cab. For some reason the exhaust seems to be restricted, two into one, with a decent size Magnaflow muffler, i will only know for sure when the test drive comes up, other than that, still waiting on the rest of tinwork, but rear seat and stereo, front fendersapron and bib will be next, then finish wiring completely.
