Started fabbing and still thinking on bumper/winch plate, replaced oem wheel studs for longer ARP studs. Cleaned and painted brake booster with new FJ80 m/c. Still waiting on body so i read the painless wiring manual for the 12th time and started bolting goodies on steering column. Completed the last of missing fittings for the trans cooler lines and fuel lines....nipping at the bit for the tub!!

Looks great. What size are the studs? and where did you source them?

2.6" long, Summit Racing part #ARP 100-7715.......freakin pricey, but i had no choice as oem studs left me with only three threads for lug nut.

Dang! You weren't kidding. I've got the same dilemna.

Thanks!

finished the weathertite one piece connection for the rear bumper. now if bumper needs to come off, simply unplug one master elec. plug and unbolt.

Finished up the last bit of wiring for the instrument panel and speedo panel with weathertite connections to ease removal if necessary.

Hey KY Longhunter..........be forewarned, the front stubs will be 5/16 shorter, at least they were in my application. Probably could've used the rear studs up front as they were 1/4" longer, but being i had them and piece of mind, they went in.

Well, while waiting for the tub, alot of the little things that would ordinarily be added to the final punch list are getting sorted out, among those are the hubs gettin cleaned and fresh grease. Homemade gaskets took alot more time than i thought, but came out great.

Those hubs will be the 'fusible link' in your front end.

:hhmm:

This has got to be the best build I've seen so far. That is one BAD ASS Machine !!! Please keep us posted, I really want to see this finished.

Any recomendations?? I can honestly say in all the cruisers i've wheeled, i've never blown a hub apart, but i suppose there is a chance. I took these apart, seals looked great, no scars, regreased and rebolted....however, Mark, have you any of those odd shaped washers??

Thanks for the kind words fellas........Dropped the rolling frame off to the exhaust shop here in town, single exhaust, 2 into one magnaflow, trying to keep it as quiet as possible, go figure all my brake lines came in today as i was pulling it out of driveway, or i'd still be in my shop!! Should have it back by Wednsday/Thursday......stopped by the body shop and helped out with some of the prep work on cap pieces and aprons. The painter is just as picky as i am and needs a few more days to go the extra edge on the tub, so i'll have to wait a bit more. Below is a taste of the color i chose, 2002 Prowler Orange, too bad it fell and needs to be repainted. Cant wait to wet sand!!!

A few more hours of prep sanding tonite, got the side doors and one side of the cap left to do. Although i ordinarily wont do any body work, my Ipod loaded with a s*** load of Black Sabbath and old AC/DC seem to pass the time and chores alot easier and enjoyable than expected.

You mean the ones with the fold-over tabs? I think I have two sets left.

That said, virtually everyone I know running a vortec and 35+ tires switches from the Warn hubs to the Asco steel hubs. The one Warn I personally saw explode was on a V-8 with 33's.

You do know I wrote an entire article about engineering the weak link, right? An exploding hub is much easier to replace than a birf...or a third.;)

You know, with all that AC/DC you're listening to, you can't here the building scream that those of us seeing the pics can. That rig is already starting to SCREAM:

MAGAZINE COVER!!!!!

.

Funny you say that, my wife said the same thing, all i can hear is the editor of 4x4 sport utility saying "Here we go with another yahoo wants his truck in our magazine". But the more i think about it, i humbly think it would be a good candidate. Got any leads?

Got a link on the heavy duty hubs?

YES!!! i need 10 mas por favor!! And two more rack mounts ( provided you have my old invoice # for correct height, if not i can dig up paper or measure), plus the shipping overage charge. Hows 'bout $100 mailed to you?!

Got the exhaust back............Thanks to Dave at Performance Muffler in Montrose for the smooth bends..Yep, its tight all the way back, just ordered 100' of exhaust wrap from Jegs to prevent most of the heat from causing any problems.

Still waiting for the bodywork.
